Does anyone here have any favourite TOC liveries?

One of my faves is Scotrail's 'saltire' livery. Hull Trains have a great livery - their old one was good too. Grand Central's 180s, with their orange strips running down the train, look very sharp.

Perhaps surprisingly, I quite liked First Scotrail's 'barbie' livery too. I'm not quite sure why. It looked particularly good on the Class 90's, I thought.

Any others? Feel free to post your least favourite, too. I never liked Greater Anglia's, or anything National Express - I hate grey.

Past TOCs count, too.

GNER's was my favourite of the post-privatisation liveries. Virgin's is very sharp and suits the 390s.

Southern's greens are very relaxing IMO. Some of SW trains look as the colours have mixed by a five year old.

Can we go back to the dark ages
The green EMU s on Great Eastern..Red on the 309 s when they were new, Then Jaffa cake.
Western, Chocolate and Cream
Locos..Western in Maroon ,,orig Deltic Blue ,,the cl 47 in GWR Green the 86 s & 87 s in BR Blue
I wish we could go back to the old liveres it is daft to paint trains white ( they get dirty! )
You only have to look at the West Coast Railways Maroon Mr 1 & 2 set to see a smart train

I do love the livery on Virgin's Voyagers and Pendo's, the red is just so distinctive and iconic. Whatever people actually think of the trains/TOC, I just really enjoy the Virgin colours!

I think the blue and white on the forthcoming class 700's looks very smart... Whether they'll stay that smart and clean is another matter, of course!

FGW dynamic lines, barbie and merlin liveries. Also quite liked the Thames Trains/FGWL livery.

Faves are the Blue South West Trains and First TPX (185s and 350s)

I'm fond of Chiltern Silver, Saltire, Southern, and the current Irish InterCity too.

As for old liveries Midland Mainline green & orange, GNER, Barbie on the 360s and BR Blue & Swallow. I'd love to see a HST or two in the old BR colours again

Northern Rail's livery on the 321s is by far the worst I've ever seen.

I'm also a fan of Southern's colour scheme - it's not quite as garish as some and seems to fit well with the area the company operates in. I'm quite pleased that it appears to be sticking around with the new franchise on some routes.

I quite like the newer Arriva Trains Wales livery too.

My favourite was the Virgin on the 87s and my least favourite the Network Rail 950. Also another really good livery is the DB red on the 60s and on 67027.

All the new grey/silver/white with coloured door liveries are hideous. I keep hoping it's all a bad dream.

The network southeast livery is my favourite. Also GNER blue, absolute classic.

Current Liveries: Saltire, Virgin on the 221s/390 + Pretendo, Chiltern, LM.

Classic: Wrexham & Shropshire, Virgin, GNER and the Short lived Merlin, before first took over.

The Virgin livery looks very sharp on this class 91.

And that new TPExpress livery for the 350s is very nice. A sort of glorified 'dynamic lines', if you know what I mean.

A barbie-liveried Class 90. Hopefully you'll agree with me.

The SPT livery is another good one. It's better without the turquoise stripe.

And the winner for worst livery is...

Just out of interest, I'd be interested if anyone knew which livery the FNW services to and from London used.

....As for old liveries Midland Mainline green & orange.....

Yep, another vote for that from me, lovely livery.

Also, Virgin Trains initial red/black (okay, dark grey) livery and Great Eastern's grey/blue/green livery too, as good on a 321 as a 312.

Grand Central's plain black on the HST was much better than the orange stripe livery.

....Northern Rail's livery on the 321s is by far the worst I've ever seen.

It is pretty awlful.

The Virgin livery looks very sharp on this class 91.
.....

That Class 91 looks very much like a Mk3 DVT to me;)

Little pedant, but the "91" in virgin livery is actually a mk3 DVT (class 82 - except it is technically a carriage!) but it does look similar to the mk4 DVT, which also looks like a 91.

The FNW london services were (usually) operated by 322s, which looked like this:
322_FNW

I personally quite liked the old Thameslink livery
319_4_thames

and the old SWT livery
455_7SWT

Although I suppose that is because they were the liveries I tended to see when I was growing up.

In terms of horrendous liveries, this 158 has to be a contender!

Regional Railways Alphaline (grey-on-light-grey + blue-on-light-blue stripes)
Regional Railways WYPTE (dark red + cream stripe)
Both of these looked brilliant on 158s.

Regional Railways GMPTE (grey/red/dark grey)
This one even managed to make 142s look nice!

Favourite liveries of today, quite like the FTP on the new 350/4 units, very unique. I am also a fan of the southern livery but only in 377's Sony think it suits their other stock quite so well.... Not sure why, just a personal feeling

And although there are very few and fair between now, I really liked the blood and custard on the class 170/4 north of the border!... Didn't look too bad on the 334's either, but again, just a preference thing I guess!.

One off liveries.... Love the 2 current class 66's (think they are GBRF's) I'm the London Underground map liveries. I likes the class 47 in the police livery and I quite liked the Freightliner 66 that was half Freightliner and half shanks.

Past liveries. NSE... Can't beat it!. Seemed to unit very thing that wore it!. Always liked the Jaffa (hoping one day Southern might paint a commemorative unit in that!!) and I really liked fast line class 66's when they were about

Liveries I'm not keen on. LM I find quite bland, as with virgin pendo's, apart from theirs noses it's mainly just grey.... Where's the colour!? Also the poster rook livery (57601 I think it was!)..... What the hell was that?!. At least u could spot the number I suppose!!!. And one final one..... Connex. The colours themselves were fine..... But could you ever find a clean one to look at and enjoy.... Which just made them look old and tired all the time!

I like the NSE livery and the SWT variant, the old Thameslink livery, the 'express' livery on 158's, and the GNER livery. I also like the Midland Mainline turquoise and orange.

As tacky as it is, I am also a fan of the North Western Trains 321 and 150 livery. I'm also a fan of the Jaffa cake livery on the slammers, and I think the connex livery goes well on the 456's.

I also have fond memories of these liveries on the 319's when I was younger:

and although a fantasy livery, this one is excellent:

The late 90's/early privatisation era was the best for liveries. (not my photos, credit/rights to the owners)

My two favourites are Intercity Swallow and the old Virgin red & black, so even better when the two are together...

Closely followed by the transpenninexpress maroon & gold from Northern Spirit days...

In fact, any of the Northern Spirit liveries with the stylised 'N' work well for me;

On the other hand, the Connex yellow and white... What on earth was going on there?! Someone just randomly sprayed yellow on the bottom of a white train!

BR Swallow for me always looked classy. Loved the NSE livery on newer stock especially the Wessex units & Networkers. Quite like the current SE 375 refurb & Southerns green is a nice mix of modern with a nod to the past.

From the past, I thought the 31's always looked smart in two tone railfreight grey and the 47's in large logo and ScotRail livery were a huge favourite.
Of the liveries today, I've got to say the DB red looks very smart, especially compared to the ghastly EWS maroon and yellow. The one I probably like the best is the DRS livery.
Worst, I'm afraid to say is West Coast's, they have a cracking fleet of loco's but the livery is just so drab.
