I don't know mate to be honest. I've heard a few different things as well that could potentially be hampering our progress. Apparently they have recently lost a number of employees capable of training new recruits. This was partly confirmed recently when I saw on their vacancies page that they were advertising for a trainer. Furthermore I've also heard that DB Schenker are making drivers redundant due to a downturn in freight work for them. I guess this in itself has a two fold impact in that no LM drivers are leaving for this particular company and those drivers made redundant may be looking for jobs with LM. Being a qualified train driver would obviously be advantageous to them if they were to apply. This is all just rumour and speculation at this time.

Hi everyone!

Can any body here tell me what depots London midlands have in the midlands area for drivers? i.e. Birmingham new street, Coventry and so on! Anybody who knows the whole list would be great, many thanks in advance.

Right well having passed my medical Inn july last year I haven't heard anything since. I'm aware that some of you were successful and started on the 5th of September but has anyone else that was successful from this application still waiting like me?

I'm obviously concerned now that come December I'm back to square one because LM won't be running the trains anymore.

Hi Villafan 10,

Yes I am in the same situation and believe the majority of us from that medical period are the same.

I guess we'll have to see what Abellio/West Midlands decide to do.....They could use the same pool, they could start afresh?

If they want to deliver on their proposal it looks like they'll need to keep investing in Drivers/Staff but I'll be a waiting game until 2018.

What do you think??

Keep us updated if you hear anything,

Dan.

Hi guys I'm in you're position too. Applied for Birmingham August 2015 passed medical July2016. As I've mentioned in another post I've had confirmation from LM recruitment that we will remain in the pipeline for next year once the franchise change over has taken place. I also echo what you say driver dan in that I would assume more drivers will be needed in order to fulfill the new franchise commitments. Just take a look at the DFT website or do a google search to find this out. If anything I think the franchise change could be a positive thing for us.

Hi All,

I applied for New Street / Snow Hill and am yet to go the first stage assessments. Having spoken to Starman already, I am hoping that we are all progressed within 2018, it is a long waiting game and a very anxious one, considering we are not sure what will happen. We have all worked hard to be in the positions we are in, so lets hope they open up more courses and assessment centres soon!

This was my concern. I know the new Company have to take on the staff and trains but wasn't sure what obligations they had towards those in the recruitment process. I literally haven't heard anything front LM since July. I've phoned on three separate occasions to get an update but have simply been told that there is no update. Can I ask exactly what confirmation you had that we won't be dropped from the process? And how did you have it? Was a letter, phone call or email?

I assume we all need to be interviewed again? I've been told I do

I really hope you do not need to be interviewed again, it seems like a very unorthodox process if you have to be interviewed twice, that just adds to your workload!

Having said that, I applied at the same time as you, Birmingham depot. I haven't been given an assessment centre yet, I still don't know if I will get to go any further, so you are making good progress in a very long process , I hope the ball gets rolling for you asap. :D

I emailed them once the new franchise had been announced and the email I received confirmed I would remain in the pipeline however it also mentioned a reinterview would be necessary and I would be contacted I due course.

And what email address did you use to contact them? Would want to have it in writing for myself in case they move the goal posts at some point.

Just out of interest, what is the status of your application on the career portal? Mine says "Offer". I'm one of the guys in the pool from the July 2016 medical.

I know this is a while away for me yet, but preparation is key and I have never been through the process before. Can anyone who has gone through the DMI and MMI, please give me a breakdown of what they both are? What's the layout / format of them, any tips? What's the difference between the two, I know one is with the driver managers?

Mine says "offer" too RUUDBOY.

Mine also says offer. I did contact them and they have also confirmed to me that I will still be in the process but said that when they know what's happening they will let me know in relation to assessments. I thought our assessment results were valid for 3 years?

Hi All,

I believe our Assessments last for five years...I'm sure I read this at application.

Villafan is correct...You have to take another Manager (Safety Competency) at least 12 months before offer so we'd all have to take the Manager's interview again before offer.

Ryder...I'm sure if they honour the whole Trainee process, they'll pick up Assessments again?

Cheers,

Dan.

Hi All,

Had an email inviting to another DM Interview. Booked in on 24th Oct at 2pm at New St. Had to call as Assessment schedule wasn't loaded on my profile. They said it's for a 2018 intake, so presuming they're getting people ready for WMT/Abellio.

Have you guys heard anything? I presumed you had as the lady said most of the slots flew out straight away?

Dan.

I got offered the assessment too, but read the email too late and all the slots were gone.
Will gave to ask if there will be more on Monday.

Having read the last few pages on here is amazing how patient some of you are!

Hang in there, driving a train really is an amazing job and for those who get on a LM/WMT course - good luck I could well be your trainer!

Before I get inundated, I have absolutely NO idea on numbers, locations or plans. Please don't ask as you'll only be disappointed. However, I do look forward to meeting some of you at The Academy!

I've not had an email for these October DM's. I'm 2015 candidate for worcester talent pool, so also got to redo my DMI. What depots are those of you going for DMI?

Im waiting on the Worcester list from 2015 process having passed the medical in August 2016..... heard nothing about a second DI. Getting slightly frustrated amd anxious to get moving. Seems Birmingham depot are getting drivers through much quicker

We went through exact same time then. I'm 2015 candidate and did my medical end of July 2016. I feel your pain mate..

Those that are having their DMI's for the second time this week, without going into detail, is it the full shabang like last time, or less formal more of a "reacquainting" so to speak? If that makes sense...

So those that have been on your second DI this week, how did it go? Any different from the last interview? Any questions on the new company? LM have confirmed their position as has been the last months for me on the Worcester list.
