There was always the intention of recruiting trainees…not sure if anyone took part in a Teams call early summer…..True
Most TOC 's have about 150 to 200 applicants per vacancy. The amount of applicants per depot will likely be in the thousands.Well, despite believing that I would hear back at some point by the end of the week, I still haven't heard back. Therefore I must conclude that I was wrong, which shouldn't surprise me really. The railway moves quite slowly with these things, especially with a role that's probably had three hundred applicants per depot. Hopefully will get something back by next week though. Fingers crossed.

You off then. We won't noticeAnd some TOCs people seem desperate to leave!![]()
I wouldn't be surprised to be honest, especially seeing as train driving is a popular job when it comes up. I remember when Virgin advertised trainee positions for the introduction of the IET fleet and I think there was about 800 for one position, and since the Liverpool depot was the only one that wasn't advertised again the next I can't imagine there's any shortages of applicants. At the very least I hope to get as far as a few assessments even if part of me is strangely confident about it (or maybe I'm deluded, we'll have to wait and see). Most TOC 's have about 150 to 200 applicants per vacancy. Probably, but at this stage anything is better than rejection at least!I'd be very surprised if you heard anything back by the end of next week.
I've barely seen trainee or even qualified positions for Polmadie depot, and pretty much never seen any for Edinburgh depot, so I would be quite surprised to see them advertised in 2023 to be honest. If I had to take an anecdotal guess I would think Euston and Wolves have the most frequent recruitment. Otherwise there's no way to reasonably guess which depots will be recruiting next year and in which month. You'll just have to wait and see.In the early 2023 recruitment, will Avanti be recruiting for trainee train drivers for Wolverhampton, Preston, Polmadie, Edinburgh & Holyhead but also what month next year will the early 2023 recruitment happen?
Apologies if I am asking too many questions.
Do Manchester & Liverpool also have the most recruitment too as well as Euston & Wolverhampton?I've barely seen trainee or even qualified positions for Polmadie depot, and pretty much never seen any for Edinburgh depot, so I would be quite surprised to see them advertised in 2023 to be honest. Someone better suited to answer will hopefully correct me on this, but Manchester seems to have a fair bit of recruitment from what I've seen over the years. Relatively speaking that is, it's still rare to get a train driver vacancy for an external candidate, especially compared to Euston and Wolverhampton. Liverpool though seems rare from what I've gathered, which isn't surprising seeing as it's a smaller depot than the aforementioned three. Based on the fact it was the only one of the three recent vacancies that never went back online for another day I also imagine it's got no shortage of applicants wanting in either. Again though, all my answers are mere conjecture, and hopefully someone more knowledgeable will correct me on it.Do Manchester & Liverpool also have the most recruitment too as well as Euston & Wolverhampton?
1 / only have to retake what you failedHey apologises, there were so many threads i was abit unsure where to ask but I recently attended south eastern psychometric tests and passed all tests except the memory test where the picture disappears after a second or two and I have to select what I saw! Gutted as this was I believe one of the easiest tests on the day! Anyway I can no longer apply for a TOC for 6months and I’ve lost my 1st life so only one left!
When I apply for another trainee driver position will I have to resit every test or do some allow you to sit what you failed?
Also if I do pass this stage but then fail the MMI is that my final life lost?
Many thanks
J
Not necessarily, its toc specific, some companies make up you take all tests again, the mmi is still part of the psychometrics so as above you'd lose you're second life.1 / only have to retake what you failed
2 / yes life lost
Which TOCs? I am yet to come across one who make you retake everythingNot necessarily, its toc specific, some companies make up you take all tests again, the mmi is still part of the psychometrics so as above you'd lose you're second life.

Nothing. Which is normal. Railway is slow. Application on website would show as rejected if they reject it.Has anybody whose applied for this role heard anything back yet? If not, does anyone know if Avanti send out rejection emails or if my application on the website will be deleted or marked as rejected if ever that were to be the case?
Thanks for that! The certainty of knowing will make me a bit less anxious about it. I suppose being a talent pool it will be especially slow as well even.Nothing. Which is normal. Railway is slow. Application on website would show as rejected if they reject it.
