    Not distance between stations!
Thinking from the start of the journey to completion (terminus to terminus) which are the shortest regular timetabled journeys (a) distance (b) time?

It probably isn't anywhere near, but Oxenholme-Windermere is quite short, as is Ryde to Shanklin (?) on the IOW.

Might be some branch lines in the SW which have very short distances?
    Anyone??

Stourbridge Junction to Stourbridge Town, surely?

Cardiff Queen Street to Cardiff Bay, 1 Mile (just over) about 4 minutes from end to end. Does that count?

Stourbridge Town to Stourbridge Junction, 0.8 Miles ? about 3 minutes from End to end.

    Here we go again!

Following citation of Brighton-Hove I trump with Hastings-Ore (Ore 0949 - Hastings 0952; Hastings 0957 - Ore 1000) 72 chains and 3 minutes. Then someone comes up with something else and we end I remember not where; but when we do, we all go "Yes, of course, that's the usual conclusion".

So over to the next player!

Whoops - some posters have already gone out of turn.

Hey, Ore - Hastings is my trump card! I'm the one who lives there! ;)

Don't know distance but Deal to Walmer is also 3 minutes.

Even better Seven Sisters to Bruce Grove 2 minutes.

Are these really terminus to terminus trains? If so, impressive!

I normally suggest Redhill-Reigate, but I can't seem to find any of those timetabled for 3 minutes any more (I think there was one once upon a time).

Though won't those be extended one side or the other, or both? In any case the Yeovil curve is longer than the Stourbridge branch anyway...

Cardiff Bay and Stourbridge running times are 3 minutes not 4

Bromley North to Grove Park is quite short. Journey takes 5 minutes and there is a train every 20 minutes in each direction.

I agree with these, sure we've been here before though? We maybe need a RailUK Forums "Guinness Book of Records" page!

Being from Llandudno Junction I would think Llandudno Junction to Llandudno qualifies as one of the shortest trips with an intermediate stop, that being Deganwy

You couldn't agree with the quote as I've already corrected them. I'm sure, as you say, we've had it all before.

And if memory serves Wrexham General - Wrexham Central is the correct answer; but have we had all the near misses yet?

I thought Hythe to Colchester Town was fairly short - a mere 79 chains, yet it takes four minutes.

Hastings - Ore does not count, that just a short hop from one station to the next. No trains just run Hastings to Ore, they either run Victoria to Ore or Brighton to Ore or VV. But Brighton to Hove is run by at least two trains per hour that only run Brighton to Hove and return.

so, ner, ner, ner, ner ner.

I think that it is the only regular Southern service to use Platform 1 at Hastings. So I think that route knowledge is the reason along with the fact that the service gets the class 313 out of the way at Ore before it runs back to Brighton.

It provides a connection into the 0958 Hastings - Victoria (which most hours starts from Ore).
