Surprised no one has mentioned Blackfriars from Cannon St (and vice versa).
Or St Pancras and KX from the NLL.

Travelling between Droitwich Spa and Worcester Foregate Street you can see Shrub Hill twice as the train passes around the triangle - you can also see Shrub Hill whilst standing on the platform at Fgt St.

Salfords & Earlswood have no platforms (in use, in the latter case) on the Brighton Main Line. You can make out Sanderstead from the main line, too (well, the platform fencing at least). Merstham's no problem to see either.

I reckon you can probably spot Waterloo East from a Thameslink from Elephant to Blackfriars. Certainly, Charing Cross is visible, isn't it? Was also a (brief) time when you could see Blackfriars (District Line) from the same train.

And, until a few years ago, Shoreditch from trains leaving Liverpool Street.

That'll do for now, I think....

I am not certain that the Tyndrums can be spotted from each other but you may be able to spot one from the approach to the other as there are some trees in the way along both routes.

As for the two Burscoughs, it is impossible. They are at different parts of the town with many houses inbetween.

Though you can see Burscough Bridge station from Ormskirk trains from the overbridge as they cross the Southport line. The OP states "can be seen from the train" rather than seeing one station from another. In which case the Cambrian example up-thread is invalid, as those trains/stations are on the same line.

Jordanhill can be seen from the train between Anniesland and Hyndland.

There are examples just south of Glasgow Central where all the lines intertwine and pass each other. You can see Pollokshields East from the line to Kilmarnock, and the line the "other way" round the Cathcart circle. It's a weird case where the train drives right by a station it'll stop at 20 minutes later, on the same run!

You can see South Bermondsey from the BML.

Wembley Central from the chiltern line via Ruislip

You can, if you know where to look see Tottenham Hale from just after Harringay

I had a flat in Tottenham you could see Tottenham Hale, Seven Sisters and Bruce Grove from.

I'm sure Wigan Wallgate can be seen from the approach to Wigan North Western on the WCML?

A few hundred yards to the east, Wigan North Western station can be seen from Manchester - Wigan Wallgate trains (admittedly there are connections between the LNWR and L&Y routes just south of Wigan NW)

It's a while since I travelled this way, but I think you can see New Mills Central (on the Chinley line) whilst travelling east of New Mills Newtown (on the Buxton line). These are definitely different routes, running either side of the Goyt valley.

Farnborough North, on the North Downs line, is visible from the South Western Main line.

Yeovil Junction from the Bristol to Weymouth line.

All the Maidstones can be seen from each others line.

Todmorden can be seen from Trains doing Burnley <> Hebden Bridge on Copy Pit - coincidentally just as you pass through the remains of Stansfield Hall station.

Some more Londonish ones that I can think of:
Waterloo east can be spotted on the line from Elephant & Castle to Blackfriars.
And if you look out of the opposite window you can probably spot parts of London Bridge. Then once inside the station you can just about see Charing Cross.
I'm not sure if you can see Blackfriars from the SEML - maybe if you are sharp eyed.

St Johns can be spotted from a Lewisham to Nunhead train (and visa versa) or from a train which uses the tanners hill flydown.

Also Lewisham can be seen from the mainline and Lewisham and St Johns stations can probably just about be seen from eachother, though not while on a train. But once leaving St Johns (heading for Hithergreen, or visa versa) you can see Lewisham briefly

South Bermondsey can be spotted on approach to / exit from London Bridge on the SEML before the lines meet.

There is probably a fair few on the underground too.

I don't think you can see New Cross Gate from New Cross but maybe you can the other way around?

You can see Aldgate station from an eastbound district line train.

Wigan North Western from trains going into Wallgate, I don't think you can see it the other way round but the trains pass very close.

Brixton and Loughborough Junction on the new(ish) London Overground line to Clapham Junction.

To answer both posts in one: Yes you can. You have a very clear view of Wallgate station when the WCML trains pass over the rail bridge just west of Wallgate.

I'm trying to rack my brains for other examples, but everyone here has done a pretty effective job of hoovering up most of the ones I know about :)

A couple of others that I don't think have been mentioned yet:

Brixton from the Overground/Victoria->Peckham Rye line.

I'm not certain, but I seem to recall Streatham Common possibly being visible from the Thameslink Wimbledon loop line when it passes over the BML.

If the underground counts, Wimbledon Park is visible from the SWT line just north of Wimbledon. And Putney is visible from the District line, when it passes over the SWT lines.

Do you consider the 'DC' lines to be a separate route to the WCML, in all or in part? If so, some of those stations might count. It really depends on the definition of 'on a different route'.

.

I would like to think that these lines are part of a separate route but depends if you can access them after Watford Junction.

You can see both Seven Sisters and Walthamstow Central from the GOBLIN.

Does Didcot Parkway from the avoiding route count?
