New Timetables for Service Number: 18Valid from 31/08/2020 until further notice- Bus times: South East and Central Scotland
18: Edinburgh - Broxburn - Dechmont - Bathgate
Looks like First Bus are also starting a new route 18, from Edinburgh - Bathgate. I am guessing this is to compete with the X18? Also interesting that unlike the X38, they have numbered this 18 instead of X18 for more competition.

Makes sense, thanks for confirming! It's just a renumbered single journey so they don't have 2 service 20s
I believe technically, yes, tomorrow is the last day of Lothian operating the 20 and 63, however in the current emergency timetable neither of them run on Sundays (note: the routes aren't being renumbered, they're just changing operator from Lothian City to First Bus).So Tomorrow is the last day for Sunday service 20 before its renumbered?
Sorry for the misunderstanding i ment First bus west lothians current 20 which will be renumbered to 18 soon i didnt know if it was this week or not, thanksI believe technically, yes, tomorrow is the last day of Lothian operating the 20 and 63, however in the current emergency timetable neither of them run on Sundays (note: the routes aren't being renumbered, they're just changing operator from Lothian City to First Bus).
Route 18 next runs on the 6th of September (First Sunday after the changes) (that is what the website says). So it should be renumbered between Monday 31st and September 5th.Sorry for the misunderstanding i ment First bus west lothians current 20 which will be renumbered to 18 soon i didnt know if it was this week or not, thanks![]()
I Get that, I was replying to some asking when the route is getting renumbered.it is council tender. It is not new and the current passengers will not notice the change.

thought this meme would make people laugh on here, apologies if anyone is offended it was just for abit of fun
Hopefully passengers expecting to catch a number 20 will be aware they should look for number 18 next week. Might not be clear to everyone. Although the number of passengers must be pretty close to zero, so maybe no great loss.it is council tender. It is not new and the current passengers will not notice the change.
None of the bus stops in that area have the 63 on it.Hopefully passengers expecting to catch a number 20 will be aware they should look for number 18 next week. Might not be clear to everyone. Although the number of passengers must be pretty close to zero, so maybe no great loss.
On the Edinburgh tenders starting tomorrow have First publicised the routes in addition to timing points? For extensions to present contracts these may not be obvious. For example does the 63 follow First's traditional Bavelaw Road route in Balerno or does it copy Lothian's 44 loop? Or something different (like both ways on Johnsburn Road)?
I thought the old Darts would make an appearance. Quite a downgrade for the passengers over what Waverley used to run but vehicle age / emissions obviously not part of the contract so nothing stopping First running whatever they please.63241/44/46/47/49 are the buses being used for the first day of the 20/63. Dart 43861 is on the 68.

I agree, i was a bit surprised to see the Dart in use, although it's well presented so not a huge issue. I think they were due to be coming off this year, but the delayed Glasgow vehicle order has seen them last probably in to next year. I'm surprised they didn't do up one of the E200s instead.

18 years old, quite the downgrade!
Before Lockdown, they operated an Enviro 200 MMC. However throughout lockdown they operated their E200 again.I would agree, albeit the previous operator did have a E200 with Urban 90 seats which is surely worse.

Sounds like quite a lot of vehicles to cover three routes - and possibly more drivers than passengers today.63241/44/46/47/49 are the buses being used for the first day of the 20/63. Dart 43861 is on the 68.

Judging by the First app it looks like the 63 route is a one way loop around Balerno, with at least 25 minutes of layover at the half way point. I'm not sure why they do this - it's either inconvenient to catch the bus in the first place or inconvenient to get home at the end of the journey. I'm not convinced this service will be troubled by many passengers, but I suppose time will tell.

I remember a while back where people were talking about them going to the Lothian Country fleet (well speculating) i think this will probably be the closest that they will be in the Lothian Country fleet, could be wrong though.
