From a contact at East Coast.

To mark its unprecedented success at the UK box office, ‘SKYFALL’ will become the first film in the UK to permanently give its name to a train, when East Coast locomotive 91007 is unveiled on Platform 7 at King’s Cross Station next Saturday (16 Feb) by the stars of the 23rd James Bond instalment, to coincide with the film’s release on Blu-ray and DVD on Monday 18th February.

SKYFALL stars Naomie Harris (Moneypenny), Berenice Marlohe (Severine), alongside SKYFALL writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade and other special guests TBC, will officially unveil East Coast train which will be permanently named ‘SKYFALL’ and wrapped in its stunning artwork, celebrating 50 years of classic train scenes in Bond movies.

So another all over wrap to join Flying Scotsman & Battle of Britain.

Mods' note: This thread is to discuss (and post photos/videos of) the actual train. To see details of timings see 91107 (91007 'Skyfall' livery) timings

The loco is being renumbered 91007 but will remain as 91107 on TOPS. EC have now issued a release to the press stating that the WHOLE TRAIN will be wrapped in the commemorative livery, not just the locomotive.

Hopefully it will be done tastefully, I wonder what it will look like. Its a shame they didnt do a 225 up as the Hogwarts Express :D

I can't seem to find this mentioned Press Release on EC's Media Centre along with all their other releases, any source for this please?

Is it April 1st!?

EC have not been very good at keeping matched units together - the FS duo are never together - so I wonder if they will try harder this time - or will there be a Bond car in every set by 2014?

So long as the vehicles in these colours don't have ejector seats for the use of overzealous RPIs then I'm sure we'll be fine ;)

Theres a distinct lack of info out there, this is the only source I've been able to find http://uk.movies.yahoo.com/-skyfall--train-to-be-unveiled-122233748.html

Would have to be an IC125 rather than an IC225, unless the west highland line (isn't that where the viduct used in the Harry Potter films is?) has been electrified.

I was wondering why it was going to be renumbered, as it just seemed silly and it would be out of sync with the other 91s. Then I realised:
91007
Ohhhhh Riiiiiiiiight :P

I say 91007 should be called "Sean Connery".

WTH is so special about SkyFail?

What's special about it is that, not content with the amount of money they've made on it, the studio want to make more and thus pay for advertising like this.

Skyfall 23 becase 23 is THE number on everyone's tounges! And the 91123 designation is suspiciously blank - latter two digits flipped.

"23" became "32" out of superstition- it was pushing at both Great Heck and Hatfield. Now, my my view of this is rather summed up by Stevie Wonder, but if it makes drivers happier it doesn't cause much harm.

Hauling at Hatfield, actually. The derailment affected the rear half of the train.

Not a chance, the class 91s and mark 4 rakes follow different maintenance regimes, there's essentially no way that they will be kept together for an extended period of time. I wouldn't expect to see Bond liveried carriages across several sets though, as the formations of the mark 4 rakes themselves are pretty much fixed.

"Permanently"? Until the next East Coast operator specifies a different naming policy, more like.

Sure, we'll be able to cut up the Mk4s to fit them in :P Or something, that's not an Aston Martin!

Does anyone know if there is anything particularly interesting at this location or is this just a pathing issue?

I believe it's for pathing reasons, it gets looped at Alnmouth to allow the following services to pass it:

1S37 0525 Plymouth to Edinburgh
1S10 0930 London Kings Cross to Edinburgh
1S11 1000 London Kings Cross to Aberdeen

I am surprised that they chose East Coast over VWC. The 390s have been fully vinyled before and looked okay, plus they stay in a single set.

I am surprised at the genuine hatred for this livery on some other fora. It gives the railways a good boost and shows that they are still considered relevant. I would be keen to see more advertising liveries in future.
