Here ya go, posted on Twitter earlier

For those about to print it, it's too low quality and blatantly not from a newspaper, but you could try to wangle it with the ticket office. Either way, I think a Crewe-Chathill journey is in order! :D

EDIT: I had a few questions on my Twitter earlier since the Northern site isn't 100% clear. Here's the highlights:
Some of these publications are weekly, so it may be a few days before all publications have the tokens in.
You print off ONE form and stick on it TWO tokens. This form is then valid for FOUR tickets all valid on ONE day. This means all four tickets from this form must be for the same day (so 4 different people). If you want a multi-day journey, you need a form and two tokens PER DAY.
Tokens aren't individually numbered or anything, so you can stockpile a single issue. Last time, I went to Buxton and bought TEN copies of the same issue of the Buxton Advertiser, giving me FIVE days of Northern Rail shenanigans.
The last day the tokens are available is the day before the first day tickets are valid. You can't buy two newspapers AND the ticket for travel that same day. You can buy the tickets in advance though.

It seems these tickets are not affected by Northern's new afternoon peak times, so that might be helpful for some.

Will be in Leeds Coach Station on Wednesday, Would the token be available then ? Can aanyone tell me the newspaper name, I'm not local in the area.

No restrictions by Northern, but I need to be in Crewe on Saturday nights (I host a radio show). Nothing stopping me traveling to Newcastle then getting up early the next day to get to Chathill before heading home though.

I don't know the Leeds area either, but here are the newspapers participating.

No newspapers for Crewe or nearby areas on there then? :(

Nope! This is why I get a Cheshire Day Ranger and go to Buxton to bulk-buy the Buxton Advertiser. If you're in Whitchurch, you could do the same.

EDIT: I should add that the Buxton Advertiser is the only one I could easily find without spending too much from Crewe. Might be cheaper to go to Wigan, but I don't know the area very well.

If you ring up one of the papers when you know the date that a voucher is in then they'll sell you a back copy for relatively cheap, I did this last time and will do again this year.

Do we know if all of these papers are doing the offer at the same time, or are they being staggered ?

ow much for a single ticket between Darlington & York though? (£23 walk-on off-peak for a 25 minute trip!) :o

It's unbelievably expensive short-distance pricing. You can solve it a bit by splitting at Northallerton, or a bit more by taking GC to Northallerton and changing.

XC APOD is probably the best option though, or TPE Advance if you have a YP Railcard, though must book before 1800 previous day.

I believe the offer is in all the papers listed at the same time, however it will be from the first new issue starting yesterday (Monday 8th).

I plan on using 2 of these tickets on consecutive days, I'm aware I need 2 lots of forms and tokens so £20 for two days. But on the forms it asks for a starting station, My trip is Wakefield Westgate to Whitehaven overnight in Whitehaven and returning the next day, So on the second form do I need to put Whitehaven as the departing station or more to the point will the ticket office clerk be able to do this? with me starting at Wakefield as I believe its printed on the ticket.

I just hand the form to the ticket office and say what dates I need. The starting station is for statistics really as the moment you get a ticket, you can be anywhere on the Northern map with it. I'd just get both tickets at the same time from the same station.

But would I be queried getting on a train in Whitehaven first thing on the morning with Wakefield printed as the starting station?

The ticket would have "issued at" as Wakefield. It would be treated the same as buying tickets to London at Crewe and the ticket back has the issuing station as Crewe on the ticket.

Looks like they're being staggered as still nothing in the Yorkshire Post or Yorkshire Evening Post but today's Sheffield Star (11th September) has the first token on page 36. Annoyingly it looks like they've changed the design of the token which I suspect will prevent anyone using any tokens they may have had left over from last year's offer (I had 7!).

Halifax Courier told me their token would be in Friday 12th (tomorrow's) edition if that helps anyone.

Those who have done this in the past could I just buy two copies of the same paper and use the two tokens? Have not noticed any information which would say whether that's ok or not.

Tokens started in the Sunderland Echo yesterday, it says they're being printed until the 19th September.

The tokens don't have a date or anything on them, so I don't see a problem using more than one from the same day's paper.

I did last time and can't see any reason why that'd change. Looks like I'll be ringing up the Halifax courier to get some back copies soon! :P

Hope people don't get frustrated with chat about which newspaper has the tokens in and so on! Just to let people know that today the Yorkshire Evening Post (widely available over Leeds and Bradford) has the Northern token in on the page opposite page 27. As this paper is 65p it's cheaper than waiting for the Halifax Courier tomorrow which is £1.30 or something.

Thanks for the info, I got it from the YEP last time so I can confirm they're reliable and quick for back copies!

Yorkshire Evening Post BACK COPIES is £1.25 each, plus a couple of quid for postage (I ordered 10 copies). Saves me a trip to Buxton, and should arrive early next week according to the lady on the phone. I've got friends in Garsdale, so I'm gonna be visiting them by train rather than driving :D
