is there a timetabled service between these two stations or more exact one that starts at Fnchley Central and terminates at Mill Hill East or vice versa?

I would be inclied to think it would be to the next station, East Finchley for trains coming into or off service

Yes, all off-peak services run as a shuttle between Finchley Central and Mill Hill East.

I think we've already established the shortest, Wrexham Gen to Wrexham Cen. but people keep posting journeys with further distances and posting distances between two stations which are not starting or terminating points (journey of train end to end) which is the purpose of the thread.

If understand correctly, the Northern line runs shuttles between Finchley Central and Mill Hill East all day save for the rush hours.

I do know there is the through London Kings Cross trains yes but there are no trains that run just from Newport to Cardiff or Cardiff to Newport whereas there are many Leeds to Bradford only trains and Bradford to Leeds only trains meaning its an end to end inter-city journey.

No regular services between Cardiff and Newport only, granted. But on match days, several shuttle services are put on, which may bring them back into contention for the shortest end-to-end inter-city title.

If the question has been answered then why not just simply lock the thread, as it will avoid other members getting their knickers in a twist when people post other suggestions.

I started the thread and it looks like I've got my answer. Train starts at Wrexham (either Central or General and hasn't been anywhere else first, and finishes at the other station and doesn't go any further.

Thank you, I must make an effort to catch that one day! £1.20 return. On NRE website the journey occasionally takes a whopping 5 minutes, best take a snack!
