I travelled on Sunday night on the Night Riviera to Penzance. We left Paddingon on time at 23.50 but came to a stand in the vicinity of Royal Oak until around 1.30 am. Arrival in Penzance was dead on time, but those joining at Reading must have had a rather long (and cold) wait. This isn't a complaint (the Night Riviera is without doubt the best train in Europe in my opinion), but I am genuinly interested as to why this happened - and if it was, in fact, planned.
