Most bizarre reason for a stoppage in play - one of the linesmen officiating an under 18s match between Maidenhead United and Holmer Green was parked illegaly, and had to be called to move his car.

Well, it's those results Liverpool need if we're going to get anywhere next season. I'm glad it looks like we'll be finishing 3rd or 4th, because the last couple of times we have finished 2nd, we ended up going on a poor run which lasts a couple of seasons. As long we get back into the Champions League, I think it's been a decent season for Liverpool overall considering we had a couple of poor runs and some awful results.

For me, our player of the season has to be the outstanding Sadio Mané, who I think's only going to get better and better. To be honest, there's a lot of players who I think have had great seasons, especially Adam Lallana who has to be Liverpool's most improved player since Klopp took over in 2015.

Spurs for the title, anyone? I think they might just do it after Chelsea's result today.

He pales into insignificance compared to Torres or Suarez - how times have changed

I still think Chelsea will win the title - Spurs will blow out like they did last Year.

Tiverton Town 1...Winchester City 0 (Landricombe 44)

Winchester City suffered yet another defeat in the West Country against a high-flying Tiverton side. The visitors gave a good account of themselves but fell behind to a scrappy goal late in the first half. They laid siege to the Tiverton goal in the second half and even had the ball in the net, but it was ruled out for offside (which should have lead to a penalty for Winchester and a red card for the Tiverton keeper). In the end, however, the hosts held on to take the points.

Other Results:

AFC Totton 4...Bishops Cleeve 0

Bideford 1...Evesham United 1

Bridgwater Town 1...Taunton Town 5

Hereford 2...Barnstaple Town 2

Larkhall Athletic 0...Didcot Town 1

Mangotsfield United 1...Salisbury 3

North Leigh 1...Paulton Rovers 0

Shortwood United 1...Swindon Supermarine 0

Wantage Town 2...Slimbridge 0

Wimborne Town 0...Yate Town 3

Evo Stik First Division North

Hyde United 2...Droylsden 0

Hyde won "the Tameside derby" ensuring they will finish higher in the league than Droylsden and also kept a clean sheet. They have consolidated 10th place in the division with just the final match to play at the weekend.

Brighton are all but promoted to the premiership

South Coast Derbys next year will be fun, Bournemouth, Southampton & Brighton in the same league.

Leeds drop out of the play-offs

Just hope we can get something this evening at Derby. Currently 0-1 to Huddersfield thanks to Collin Quaner scoring his 2nd goal in 10 minutes of football. Newcastle's earlier defeat to Ipswich Town threatens to make me think we can still get 2nd place...

(Needed to add those smilies to the news from Beeston) ;)

Another defeat for the Villa today, we need to show that we can beat the playoff contenders if we ever want to get promoted back to the Prem.

Still, there's local pride to be had on Sunday when we welcome Small Heath to Villa Park

If you don't win that one, there's something very very wrong at Villa Park...

Ahem.....

There has been since Martin O'Neill left - those top six premiership finishes are a distant memory <D

Bruce will be pleased to put one over on his former Club.

Defeat for Oldham today but it shouldn't matter as Latics should be safe from relegation's.

Well done to Plymouth and Portsmouth who both promotion to League One after winning their matches today.

I may have been premature with that one anyway, apparently Gianfranco Zola has handed in his resignation at St. Andrews...

Derby County 1 - 1 Huddersfield Town
Quaner 9, Butterfield 89.

A result that does no good for either side here, but does confirm Brighton's promotion the top flight. We now need an outbreak of leprosy on Tyneside for any chance of automatic, with Derby needing similar outbreaks in West and South Yorkshire, West London, and the Thames Valley for the play-offs.
Typical that the late equaliser came from former Terrier Jacob Butterfield. :-x

Last spot is pretty much a 3 way fight between Leeds, Sheff Wed and Fulham now. We blew our chances at Leeds, (not mentioning a "dodgy" penalty against us on Fri;)) plus we've lost Cunningham today with a broken leg, Tom Clarke, our capt, with a ruptured Achilles on Friday.

Worse thing is we play Newcastle next Mon night ! and hardly have a first string defence left !

In actual fact our bid for the play-offs ended on the 21.2.17 when we drew with Burton at Pride Park. We were absolutely awful today, completely devoid of any ideas in midfield and didn't deserve our point. You can have Jacob Butterfield back on a season loan if you like; our player recruitment over the last 28 months has been truly awful.

Best wishes for the play-offs, I hope you get promoted.

Sad to hear about Tom Clarke, as a graduate of our academy most Town fans want only the best for him. His brother Nathan also came through our academy and was (in my opinion at least) mistreated in his final years at the club, after being tipped as a future England centre-back after he broke into the first team initially.

Whenever we give ex-players (Butterfield, Rhodes, etc.) or ex-Leeds players (Bradley Johnson, Ross McCormack, Robert Snodgrass) grief from the stand in a game, without fail they punish us. But we never learn...

During today's game I went through the emotional rollercoaster of thinking automatic might still be on, then seeing those hopes crumble. I'm not confident about the play-offs though!

Congratulations to Mark Bower for turning a team of no hopers, totally devoid of confidence, into a side that could grind out results, particularly away from home. This has been done on a limited budget without paying a single transfer fee with judicious use of the loan system.

Bradford came within a whisker of beating champions elect AFC Fylde away yesterday until the referee sent one of our players off in the 88th minute and then played 11 minutes of injury time. Its amazing how teams at the top like Chelsea, Manchester United and Fylde are given huge amounts of injury time when they are losing. This reduces to two or three minutes when they are winning.

The former manager who got Bradford into such a mess remained in charge of the two academy teams. His three sides racked up the impressive total of 24 successive defeats before the kuds finally managed to a win game a couple of weeks ago.

York 1-3 Wrexham.

No words. Woking away on Saturday the biggest game for the club in years

Mills has provided a much-needed boost. We can't lose the bottle now. Let's thrash Woking and give Forest Green a run for our money. It could be a dour 1-1 draw against Woking, but I'm hoping for a proper 5-2 style rout; goals from Amari, Vadaine, and Big Jon Parkin. Feed the beast and he will score...

Team Ronaldo cheat their way to the semi-finals once more

Was a good game until they got a player sent off for Bayern Munich with Ronaldo scoring from an off-side position

Darlington beat FC United of Manchester 4-2 to move a step closer to a play off place we wont be allowed to take up! 3-0 up inside 30 minutes and played very well.

Two directors have resigned over the rules issue noted up thread.

Very rugged when you played us at our place - I said then you would be ok.

So if Sunderland and Boro are doomed to relegation from The Premier League who is going to fill the third berth ?

It's a bit like Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead - except it's the two hapless northeast teams, Rosencats and Guildensmoggies, that are completely unable to alter what is happening around them. They realise that they can't change anything and eventually resign themselves to the threat of relegation, while Swansea and Hull battle it out to stay up.
