FA Cup 4th QR - Dover Athletic 0-0 Bromley

Not much of a game, ruined further by the referee, but in the bag, ball number 73.

Wolves 2-0 Aston Villa - all I will say is we are on our way! Excellent too to see AFC Telford United, Kidderminster Harriers and Hereford FC all stroll into the 1st round of the FA Cup; hope they have a ball tonight!

Leamington 2-2 York

My first match of the Martin Gray era and a poor result. We played very well in the 1st half, could have been 3 or 4 up easily. 87th minute still 2-0 up and we take our LB off replace him with a CB who instantly makes a mistake to see us go 2-1 down then 2-2 shortly after

Derby 2 Forest a sorry 0.

An entertaining East Midlands derby with two good finishes from Vydra and Nugent. Forest had their chances but failed to take them. Enjoying a couple of pints with my children and then it's back to the station for the train home. Happy days from the Brunswick!

FA CUP 4TH QUALIFYING ROUND

CHORLEY 0 BOSTON UTD 0. Another sending off for Boston, least I managed too make it to Chorley this time. Playoff semi final 2 years ago, I was stuck on the M62 for 8 hours!

Come on Chorley! If number 53 were to draw number 4 in tomorrow's draw then the replay on Tuesday would get very tasty.

F A Cup...4th round qualifying

Scarborough Athletic 0...Hyde United 2

Hyde will be in the first round draw. I wonder who they will be paired with.

The answer is...at home to MK Dons.

Possibly Slough Town, who defeated Folkestone Invicta 1-0, or Maidstone United, who managed to force a replay in the 95th minute against Enfield Town, having had one penalty disallowed and a second missed.

Slough are away to Gainsborough Trinity and Maidstone will be away to Cheltenham Town if they win their replay tomorrow night.

Not too many "glamorous" games in the FA Cup 1st round draw.

For me its Dover Athletic away to Rochdale (if we beat Bromley in tonight's replay).

Dartford v Swindon Town and Hyde Town v MK sound good.

I can't help thinking that the FA Cup first round would be so much better if Championship sides came in at the second round.

First Round would be 48 League One two clubs and 80 qualifiers rather than 32 qualifiers as now.

Second round would be 24 Championship clubs and 64 winners from the first round.

Third round 20 Prem clubs and 44 winners from the second round.

I expect a certain veteran member from Cheshire will be along soon to ask who Hyde Town are... ;)

That's not a bad suggestion though, I'm sure that if you send it to Soho Square in a brown envelope with a bundle of unmarked, non-sequential banknotes the FA will give it some thought!

If anybody hasn't seen that bizarre disallowed penalty

Suffice to say I think the ref was correct.

Well, Liverpool finally earned their first win in this year's Champions League campaign, with a 7-0 victory against Maribor.

Bradford 1-1 Oldham

Latics winning run ended but good point at Valley parade in which Oldham could had win it if Davids headed didn't hit crossbar.

I believe Oldham are going to be announced new manager tomorrow and rumours that Wellens isn't going be appointed on full time basic which I think be bad move given he do wonderfully job as caretaker manager. (I wouldn't be surprise if it's Pablo Correa if it isn't Scholes or Wellens)

In 2010 Hyde United changed their name back to Hyde and changed their colours from red to blue as part of a sponsorship deal with Manchester City. When the deal ended in 2015 and City's junior teams left Ewen Fields, they changed their name back to Hyde United.

Winchester City 1...Paulton Rovers 1 (Carr 43; Ball 90+2) Attendance: 110

More late frustration for Winchester City as they were denied the chance to climb to third by a late equaliser. The hosts took the lead just before half time when Rob Carr beat the keeper in a 1-on-1. They then spurned two gilt-edged opportunities to put the game to bed before the visitors headed home in stoppage time. Next up, a trip to the league leaders.

Other Results:

Bishops Cleeve 1...Bideford 2

Wimborne Town 0...Cinderford Town 1

League Table:
1. Taunton Town 10/25
=========================
2. Bristol Manor Farm 10/22
--------------------------------------
3. Salisbury 10/20
4. Winchester City 10/19
5. Evesham United 10/19

Minor misdemeanours blown up out of all proportion. Managers sacked. FA chiefs forced to grovel to parliament. Five full pages in the Guardian including p1 of the main and sports sections - a paper which can't even be bothered to find out last night's Highland league results (all shown as L-L).

Is women's football really worth it?? Hardly anybody watches it and those who do pay nothing (parent club ST holders) or next to nothing. It's a different sport, so let the ladies have their own Women's FA and leave the Football Association to worry about important matters.

Here's a tip - if you don't like or appreciate women's football, or don't think it's important (how dismissive!), don't watch it.

Women's football has a very good following among women (and particularly young girls and young women).

It's entirely appropriate that Sampson was sacked for shagging his players and it's entirely appropriate that the FA apologised for the off-colour and borderline racist remarks he made to his own players.

Women's football is a great sport and I would encourage anyone cynical about it to go. It's different - but it is much more honest that the men's game. It's a better sport to take kids to as well; the players are more accessible and "real", the place isn't full of louts, and the games are competitive, with proper tackles and less diving.

You really underestimate the importance of women's football in giving young women and girls positive and healthy role models, free from most of the baggage that comes with top level men's football.

I don't think he was being disrespectful, just suggesting that they should have their own FA. My daughter has played football and I've watched her a few times but other than that I have no real interest in it, I'm not dissing it that's just how I feel about it.

I think it is rather disrespectful to question whether women's football is "worth it" and suggest that the women leave the FA to let the FA concentrate on "important matters" (I assume men's football). The implication being that women's football is not important.

It is important.

After watching just a small piece of those FA clowns in front of the Committee yesterday the women would probably welcome their own regulatory body.

For the Chairman of the FA to call these serious incidents ‘fluff’ just about sums up their attitude.

My wife just happened to have a meeting with a senior FA official earlier this week and she also saw the news last night. She immediately commented it comfirmed the arrogance and ‘know all’ attitude culture comes from the top.
