Careful drivers! Yesterday I saw 700050 waiting in platform 11 at King's Cross to form 1P70, the 1842 King's Cross to Peterborough. The concourse end coupler was literally a hair's width from the 'stop' sign positioned on a post in the four foot. Presumably, 1 mm further and it would technically have been a 'SPAD'? It struck me that the driver of a 700 is sat further back from the windscreen than on say a class 317, 365 or 387 and in addition, the sloped front means that the coupler face is further still from the driver's seated position. I guess this means that the drivers will need to be careful when using their normal visual cues to line up with the correct stopping mark without over doing it. One for the instructor drivers to point out, I guess...
