I always seem to be in a very small minority, but I think the Pendolinos and Voyagers have aged remarkably well. If you did a random survey asking people how old they are I bet few would say nearly 20 years. They still look and feel modern.

I would agree. They really don't look 16 ish years old, inside or out.

It would be nice to see the full flowing silk livery on a 390, but it seems unlikely now that the DFT is moving to permanent brands.

Well, as my favourite TOC is getting a makeover, I owe it to Virgin Trains to create a list.

Window bands will now be the norm when leaving widnes. Internal comms confirm.

I'd rather keep it the latter.
Fair enough. Will certainly be interesting to see, especially how they manage to cram the silk pattern into the comparatively smaller space available at the front of the Voyagers lol!

Don't know who your source is @LOL The Irony but we haven't heard anything at all regarding the voyagers, other than they're needing some engine and tilt TLC due to failures over the hot summer, which has prevented some shop mods/repairs happening a bit quicker. Nothing at all regarding repaints.

I know the source and can confirm it is something that knows what it’s talking about.

I personally think that if the voyagers are getting the new livery, they're much more likely to be vinyled rather than repainted. It's incredibly unlikely that the voyagers will be getting a repaint as part of this relivery.

The repaint is almost certain; the Pendolino fleet was mandated to have one (for corrosion protection).

I probably should have worded it differently - the voyagers are unlikely to be part of the same repaint program as the pendolinos are. If they're getting repainted it's unlikely to be at Widnes, and if the first one is being reliveried this month it makes me think it's much more likely to be a vinyl wrap rather than a repaint at first.

There has been some changes to the voyagers. 221101 no longer has the nameplate Louis Bleriot and 221114 now has the name "Royal Air Force Centenary 1918-2018" which is on a sticker.

I was told September so should start soon.
Voyagers were tendered for Widnes for a protype re-paint but not won. Not sure when the prototype will actually be done, I think Bombardier may have won it.

Full Fleet still to be tendered.
