White generally: because it's easier to change for a new TOC.

VTWC: Because their base colour is and always has been red.
LNER: Because they don't want to repaint everything from VTEC days, and (see VTWC)
Abellio: Because their base colour is and always has been, er, red.
TfW: Because the dragon is red, and bright green looks awful as a TOC livery?

I don't think there is any deliberate coincidence.
Makes sense for sure!

LNR/WMT kind of spoils that conspiracy theory though with its silvery base colour .Certainly ain't red & white that's for sure .

And the theory also breaks down because the TfW livery is clearly not going to be DfT spec’d. That should be obvious to anyone with even a slight grasp of the politics involved.

To simplify it further, the design for the TfW Rail livery (regardless of the operator) has been mandated by TfW themselves within the Senedd (Welsh Assembly), in a similar fashion to the ScotRail Saltire livery being mandated by Transport Scotland within Holyrood (Scottish Parliament).

Thanks for the info! I bet you it's 150-285. Would be nice to see a 158 wearing it after that :)

I mean that it could be getting PRM mods because it's been reliveried and is in Canton do they are still doing more work on it.
More likely that it has had PRM mods done at Arriva Traincare in Crewe as part of its C6 overhaul, has returned to Canton and they are doing the return to service exam etc on it.

175004 in New livery. Looks much better in real life compared to photos, especially the Pendolino inspired black band around the Windows.

Just wondering which one. Unless the vehicles have now been swapped back 175004 and 175005 vehicles were running around for months with their vehicles swapped over. It started at a time when there were several damaged 175s and good cars from various units were reformed in order to make up "good" sets. These two remained swaped for ages afterwards as though they just didn;t bother swapping them back.

I don't know to be honest, just saw 175004 at Piccadilly yesterday, think it was working the 16:30 ish departure...

Wales247 have some footage of 175003 getting reliveried at Chester (note the opening footage shows 175102 going in).

https://wales247.co.uk/watch-the-tr...as-the-transport-for-wales-fleet-takes-shape/

I noted that while the white and red livery was applied as a vinyl, the yellow front was painted on.

The attached article says it was done as a "continuous day and night-time shifts over a single weekend", which suggests the expected rate of progress is one a week.

Are you absolutely certain? Because one of the driving cars of 003 has part of the unit numbers peeling off so it looks like a different number to what it is - and a quick check of the allocations suggests that 003 was on the 1630 last night (it was on the empty stock from Cardiff to Canton that contains the unit off the 1630 in any case).

107 and 003

Or are you saying 101 is done too??

Whoops! Sorry yes I meant 107! 107 and 003 (and 143-625 are the only ones I've seen with TfW on them so far, I won't believe any other 175s or 143-602 or 150-285...? until I see them...
