I had a call today im through to the DMI but there is a long wait as they are doing stage 1 and 2 assessments first then the interviews. Prob be waiting until after the summer id say.

Just had an update to say they are still reviewing applications and that it may take a while as its for a talent pool rather than active vacancies.

Yes its for GWR and I've applied for Paddington. At the moment its just sitting at the application submitted stage, although I've done all the assessments (except MMI) with another TOC.

The wait is nothing more than I expected, but at least they've had the courtesy to keep us updated.

Well at least its not bad news and I received the same email, i also think that the company is dealing with candidates in the midlands first and then they will get back to candidates for the london/Reading depots at a later stage

To a hotel in Exeter City Centre. Not sure of numbers that will attend but decided on the morning option as I think prefer the morning option to just get stuck into it!!

Same here. I'm genuinely impressed that they had the courtesy to send the email. By the looks of the posts, gwr will have enough drivers to run hs2 on the side!

Don't forget, it's a high wastage expectation at the testing stage. The talent pool for Bristol is rumoured to be 36. Knock at least 25 off that for Internal staff and it's only 11 jobs.

I’ve not received anything re: Exeter although I have previously passed the Train Driver assessments so not sure if no news is good news or not!

35 already in the pool at Bristol from previous Internal intake. Only 4 vacant lines and around 25 in training or due to start this coming month.

Expanding? Yes. Crying out? Far from it. The reason this has gone external is that after internal only recruiting a pool of 60last year, they probably felt they wouldn't find another 30+ this year. Near 100 internals in 2years is a lot to find, even in the Bristol area.

Don't forget what they did last time. Lots of people sat in pools for 3-5years before finding out they weren't required. Now, I don't think they'll over do it like last time, but there's not as many vacancies as people seem to think there'll be.

I did mine with SWR, did all of them in one day. I know some other TOC’s split them for some reason. After each test, if someone failed then they just left after that particular part, started with 16 and only 2 of us were left at the end
