You were the one saying they were different. These are very minor differences surely. Hardly greater knowledge is it?I was assured that the set wiring and associated hardware had been updated but I bow to your greater knowledge.

Out of interest does anyone know why the 0700 from Hull was 48 min late yesterday? It didn't knock onto my run (1103 out of London) thanks to the hefty turnaround time but it appeared to arrive in Hull on time from the depot... just curious!

And The Wires Came Tumbling Down!

Today, I intended to go to Doncaster on the 11:03 train to Leeds from Kings Cross.
I had intended to travel in First on an Azuma, to see what the quality was like.
So I booked an Advance ticket online for around £50.
But then the train didn’t run, as the wires had come tumbling down!
This must be the third time, I’ve been affected by faulty overhead wires on the East Coast Main Line in the last few years.
In one case, we were delayed for about two hours and in the other, it didn’t affect me for long, as I was in an InterCity 125, which drove through the problem.
I have lost my fifty pounds, as you take the risk with an Advance Ticket.
Conclusion
The electrification on the East Coast Main Line seems to be built and maintained by morons.
Next time, I take the train on the East Coast Main Line, I’ll check trains are running before buying a ticket.
They were completely separate and unrelated incidents, occurred on different days.Is this article relevant?
thanks you. They were completely separate and unrelated incidents, occurred on different days.
It's certainly inaccurate - even with an advance ticket, if the service is cancelled, the ticket is reusable. Of course, if the sole purpose of the journey was to ride the Azuma rather than actually travel anywhere, yes I suppose it's wasted, but that's a risk anyone travelling to see a specific train / unit should know they're taking. Is this article relevant?

3 IC225s (30 Mk4 vehicles i.e. 3 10-coach sets, inc. DVT) are due to go off-lease by the end of June.
Another 4 sets gone end of August.
My thoughts are that the 90s will be the first to go, with an 800/1 taking over the Newark NG run, and *possibly* extending to Lincoln Central throughout the day.
Spare a thought for Aberdeen and Inverness passengers. On the other hand, I just can't believe how hard and uncomfortable the seats are. It's going to be a long journey to Hull putting up with them each Friday!
For the Hull executive, yes.Has NL65 been stopped?
Has NL65 been stopped?
At the moment yes but more will come in the next month or so on the Leeds - London and possibly on the Newark North Gate services. Is there just one diagram for the Azuma's at the minute? The one from Hull to London and return (with a run to Leeds and back in between)?
There’s a whole thread dedicated to this in the allocations and timetables thread, I think the mods wanted discussion of the trains and their service patterns kept separate:At the moment yes but more will come in the next month or so on the Leeds - London and possibly on the Newark North Gate services.
looking at the seating plans on the LNER site the windows on the 225s are shown but not on the Azuma diagrams, i seem to remember seeing a plan somewhere with "these seats have no window" or am i confusing this with Vergin West Coast. I would like to know the location of the window seats when booking.Oh, just to add that seats B41/42 have no window.
Looks like a class 800 is to visit Aberdeen on Sunday

It’s expected for our staff training to be in Aberdeen for three weeks apparently, due in at 1436 off platform at 44 and at clayhills for 1504
Wonder which one it was that made the journey to Aberdeen?Looks like a class 800 is to visit Aberdeen on Sunday

Not very surprising? It's a route signed by LNER drivers, and it's easier to get a path on than the coastal line (given you're essentially only competing with Fife Circle services, v. everything!).Went round the Fife circle
