What did they ask for the CBI interview at the end of stage 2?

He started at 10am and had all the paper tests, then they did the computer based tests and then cbi interview at the end of the day. They were giving people results throughout the day and sending people home if they hadnt passed so not everyone got to the end of the day

What questions were asked in the CBI interview?

I'm not sure the person you are asking should be giving that out, nor that you should be anticipating. Questions are often different, and in case of identification I personally wouldn't be handing out all the information. It's not about being closed and trying to be secretive, but it's important that the recruitment process be kept relatively confidential.

They'll be on here if its the OPC CBI. Use the search function.

Its the DMI competency questions which usually change year on year, and don't have 'standard answers' across the board.

I’d go suited and booted, personally. You can never be overdressed, but you can certainly be underdressed!

My husband had his assessment day last week and he was told the next stage is a depot managers interview and then medical

If he passes the Depot manager interview the Medical will only take place when he has a provisional job offer and confirmed start date. If your held in a talent pool that is NOT a job offer.

The talent pool is for 2020/21. There isnt long left until 2021 so we have no idea on training dates so a medical may follow soon after DMI if the dates are available. Just a thought.

Your medical results are only valid for so long so they won’t send you for your medical until they have a course date in mind. Bare in mind there’s currently 2 delayed internal courses that haven’t even started yet and only a certain number of trainers available you will have to be patient for a start date.

How many people have made it through to depot manager interviews on this thread?

You don't find out on the day. I was told I'll receive contact from Avanti up to 10 working days after my assessment to tell me if I've been successful.

Interesting to know if anyone's heard yet?

Apologies if this is a bit off topic but I noticed this story on the Grauniad and it could be relevant to anyone who has applied for the Avanti trainee train driver positions:
FirstGroup could cease trading as coronavirus hits passenger levels

While the ICWC franchise would continue, possibly in the hands of the OOLR, this disruption to the underlying business might interrupt the recruitment process.

Will try and stay on topic as much as possible. Surely if most drivers are coming to retirement they’ll need some trainees right?

As long as services are not cut back long term then avanti will be recruiting plenty of drivers, do not worry. The issue will be if the gov steps in and cuts down the number of services long term in the face of the inevitable drop in pax numbers over coming years.
