Class 315 Withdrawals

The word on the street (I can’t verify it, I’m afraid!) is that it’s the last day for the venerable class 315 units today. It is probably just the last day that the diagrams say they are booked for 315s. All TfL Rail east services will most likely all be 'booked' 345 next week but with insufficient 345s actually transferred east actually some worked by 315s.

No need to panic over the demise of 315s yet. There will be some STP alterations from next week that will see them continuing into the new timetable.

All 14 of them worked on Friday. 315820+315857 came out for the 1656 LST-SNF.

Glad all 14 are still going. Clearly the 820 and 834 gen was duff, although they were pan down at Aldersbrook so I can understand people jumping to conclusions.

Less forgivable are people editing the Class 315 Wikipedia page to say they were withdrawn on Friday 14th May and then reverting the page back having been corrected.

Can confirm. Was on both of these units today on the 1049 LST-SNF. 820 sounding good!

Great work.Sad to see all those 315s gone...I worked on them between 1982 and late 1985 and actually passed out on them as my traction (302s-315s) in 1988 before I transferred.

Always sad though when I have to update a record to scrapped, which has been a regular occurrence just lately especially across the 31* and 32* classes. At least you have the memories of having driven them though, imagine many a happy working day was had

the current requirements for 315’s are 3 x 8 car formation, This is on rotation and units not used are to be found in Aldersbrook sidings. TfRail currently have 14 serviceable 315’s

I've driven their "sister" units for the last 30 years...the 455's.
Didn't driver the 315s that often as in the early days I cleaned them then trained to drive them before transfer to the Southern Region.

Picture has emerged on the Class 315 Preservation Society Fb group showing a single DT from LO 315809 left at Wolverton Works so I wonder if that unit is now being disposed of at last?
