No worriesMy apologies, a touch of Senior Citizen memory lapse!
At least, after the final group stage matches, we should know which of the best-placed third teams will progress. No worries
It does mean that there's everything to play for for all teams in Group D. Czech Republic may not be the side they were in 1996, but they do have a victory over England in the most recent competitive meeting.
Phillips is the “Yorkshire Pirlo” apparently. Do me a favour. He’s not fit to lace Pirlo’s boots. The thought of Phillips and Rice in midfield going up against Pogba and Kante terrifies me. We won't get that far based on current showings but wow our midfield is so average.
If Jack Grealish is this years "great white hope" for the England team, we're really in trouble.
Yes it is a suggestion he didn't play particularly well. Especially as both fans and pundits thought he'd be the saviour once he came on. He proceeded to dribble aimlessly into the centre circle, then to attempt to pass to a substitute who was warming up. If he's pleased with his performance last night then he's frankly deluded. Is this a suggestion he didn't play well? He was by far England's best player in that last half an hour, never afraid to demand the ball and looks to work it forward at every opportunity.
Apparently so. I do agree that Grealish showed more promise than some of the others once he was on, but that's all relative: again, if he's happy with it then he's deluded. "Least-worst" is a more accurate label. Then it's fairly obvious we watched a different final 30 minutes last night.
He's been struggling with fitness for a long time now (several months) and Striker is never his best position either (another Southgate mistake). I doubt politics is part of it. If anything his confidence might be boosted by his incredible work and the positive response he has received.Has anything recently diminished the footballing confidence of Marcus Rashford, as he seems but a shadow of his former self? Is his move into the political arena with regards to extending free school meals especially during holiday periods something to do with this?

....where he can use his height and weight to terrify the opposition centre-backs.....Southgate doesn't play him as a striker, he plays out wide. It was the same when he came on yesterday for Kane, Rashford went out wide and Sterling moved to the middle.

Didn't pick up on that sorry.Southgate doesn't play him as a striker, he plays out wide. It was the same when he came on yesterday for Kane, Rashford went out wide and Sterling moved to the middle.
If we thought England had underperformed last night, France are showing us that it could be worse...!
England were playing at home in their national stadium in front of a greatly reduced capacity that noise-wise the Scottish fans seemed to make the more noise, whereas France are playing away in Hungary with what seems a different (if any) stadium restriction. Any idea what the crowd numbers are?If we thought England had underperformed last night, France are showing us that it could be worse...!
I thought that last night and England would put the game to bed!Interesting. Still plenty of time to turn it around though.
(game of two halves, jumpers for goalposts etc etc...)

Small boys in the park? Jumpers for goalposts. Fear of parky. Who can blame them. Small boys in the hut? Hm. Isnt it? Dont quote me on that one
What are ITV doing with Sky's Pundits Neville and Souness ? - Do they not show The Euros on Satellite ?
After that "snoredraw" last night Portugal v Germany is a great watch.
Currently 4-1 to Germany - ominously they are on the March.

All the pundits have competition-specific contracts with the various broadcasters. Some have split themselves between two for years, notably Gary Lineker. I guess for the euros and World Cup all the Sky and BT lot become free agents
