Eventually - Welcome to the forum. I didn't notice at starters.

I knew somehow that you would get it when you said Nottingham!

It has knocked your post up a few more.

Thank you. Was thinking of ruddington when I said Nottingham. Try this one. Town that had 4 platforms and now has 2. Originaly had 2 unconnected lines run into the same station.

Only one route used these days.

I'll rephrase the question. This station had 4 platforms, but now has 2. Originaly the lines that ran into 1 & 2 were not conected to the lines that ran into 3 & 4. The lines ran parrallel before the western pair of lines divide under the other pair and headed east.

No. 1 & 2 are in use, 3 and 4 are now a car park. Can't guarantee that I've numbered the original platforms correctly as what I'm calling 3 & 4 were the first lines through the town, I believe.

Right ok let's have a crack at this: The Town i'm thinking of has 2 stations both have the town name and a suffix 1 of the stations only has a 3 trains a week on Saturday Between Sheffield and Cleethorpes stopping there, in the 2002/2003 Finacncial year only 5 fare paying passengers boarded there.
the other station is 20 mins walk from the town centre, and has an hourly service to Lincoln and Sheffield.

Gainsborough Lea Road and Gainsborough Central.

Here's one - this station was closed in 1954, but a station with the same name opened in 1982. However the new station is half a mile away from the old one.

Well, it's either Fitzwilliam, Valley, Blaenau Ffestiniog, Deighton, Milton Keynes Central, Crossflatts, Watton-at-Stone, Watford Stadium or Slaithwaite. Think we can rule out MKC or Watford Stadium though :D

Of those I mentioned (all those which officially opened on NR in 1982), Watford Stadium, Milton Keynes Central, Blaenau Ffestiniog and Crossflatts were completely new stations, however, Watton-at-Stone closed in 1939, Fitzwilliam in 1967, Valley in 1966, Deighton in 1930, and Slaithwaite in 1968. Have I missed something?

Deighton?

The original Paisley Canal station was still open in 1982 IIRR. It closed at the same time as the Kilmacolm branch, which I think was about that time.

Cannot be Paisley as it only closed in 1982 and reopened in 1990..., the changes around Blaneau was the only 1982 line opening...

It is none of those!

IIRC the first station closed in 1930 at Deighton.

A clue - the new station is on a line which did not exist when the old station was closed.
