Do you mind letting me know the last date in august? I’m in the same boat as those that haven’t heard anything since responding to confirming your details email . I assume it’s because I’ve previously passed so possibly won’t get a response till after this stage or the next stage once everyone has completed their assessments. So I’m just trying to get a rough idea when I may possibly get a reply/update. Thanks
Attached photo of dates available at the time. I’m sure they will have fresh new dates available for September

For the applicants that have sat assessments (recently) before and passed. You will be exempt from repeating certain assessments. The OPC will know what assessments you have done and what you don’t have to do. The OPC are handling this recruitment drive, so it’s nothing to do with ARL till the OPC give them the green light about you.

If your level of “Enhanced” matches the ARL requirements, you won’t have to sit those assessments again. The OPC will know.

Applications are being done in batches, no news is good news. Just be patient. I speak from experience with that one.

Any questions (for people who have done assessments previously) message the OPC, they respond pretty quick but for new applicants, again just be patient and good luck on your assessment days.

In behalf of all the others who haven't heard back yet. We thank you.

You're right. No news is good news.
I'll just sit back now and wait.

Everyone who has assessments coming up shortly. Best of luck!

No problem! Just enjoy the ride, it’s a long ride but someone on here said the course starts in November.
So everyone who’s applied will know by then if you’ve been successful or not.

I think the courses are starting in Jan 24 if my inside info is correct.

To give everyone a perspective to wait time; I did my assessments pre-covid and my time line went like this:

• May 18, Applied for the role
• Aug, Invite to 1st stage assessments
(there was no online VSE pre-covid)
• 9 Oct, 1st stage assessments
• 12 Oct, Invite to 2nd stage
• end of Nov, 2nd stage assessments
• end of Dec, Invite to DMI
• beginning of Jan 19 DMI
• 11 Jan offered the role
• Feb, Medical
• March, Trainee Course
• Dec, Quaified

Its a waiting game and this was when there was someone decent in HR. Good Luck

I'm ex Willesden. My timeline was applied November 2017. First assessment day in Jan 2018 and second in late January/early February. I didn't do them as I had the passes already.Dmi in February 2018 and medical too. Started March 2018 and qualified November. So a bit shorter than you. The group of trainees before me had applied for the same intake in November 2017 and Started around February 2018.

What is the best way for an individual to contact The OPC directly in regards to these assessments? There is no contact email address listed on their website, just a contact from but that seems more suited towards organizations.

I'm not getting a reply from Arriva and the OPC refer back to Arriva.

So has anyone that has previously passed some/all of the assessments and been booked in to resit them for this particular job offering been able to get a concrete answer on whether you'll be required to redo all of the tests or just the extra Arriva-specific ones and any failed on the previous occasion?

I'm not getting a reply from Arriva HR on this matter, and OPC say they can't provide an answer and refer back to Arriva.
The OPC are the ones doing the assessments on behalf of ARL. Sometimes I don’t get why they are so clandestine about it but I did make a post on Thursday about my findings.

To give you the quick answer, I emailed the OPC about my results which I obtained this year and was told that my passes are valid for this recruitment campaign but I *may* have to sit the (DFFT and MMI) as these are ARL specific.

I can only assume after the stage 1’s have been tested, people who already hold valid passes will be invited to sit ARL’s required assessments at stage 2.

I know it sucks to say but just be patient, you won’t be missed out.

I've had an email this morning saying I've been unsuccessful in the online OPC assessment... Which I still haven't received the link for! I sent an email about it week ago that wasn't responded to. Tried calling the phone number in the footer of the recruitment email, that was switched off. This has been hard work

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me?
I done my online VSE and did pretty good as I got 1 or 2 wrong with the symbols on the last bit, that was on the 21st of July, and still haven’t heard anything back? Is this normal as I can see on here most people have had a reply even if they failed? I have also emailed the lady at arriva who sent me the link twice now with no reply! Any info would be great Thank you in advance

Out of sight ,out of mind, nothing you can do at this point. I personally wouldn’t bombard the same lady with emails though, recruiters pet peeve.

Maybe send a email to the OPC in regards to your results ? If you would have passed or failed the VSE , the OPC will know your results and will have passed the results over to arriva.

I think there is a huge lack of communication going on here which is not great for everyone. I’ve still not heard anything since I confirmed my details .

I talk from experience genuinely nothing you can do. I applied for another TOC January they only got back to me literally last week to say I was unsuccessful (6months). I applied for Arriva got back to me swiftly. You have to consider its a high demand job so they’ll always be a lack of communication unfortunately and also a first come, first serve element to it because it’s a sought out job. it’s the TOC game in general, I’m sure many can echo my experience.

But with that said no harm in going out your way for what you want. Got to be relentless with the things you want so whatever your method is go for it mine is just staying persistent if you want it bad enough it will happen.best of luck to all!

Thank you for your reply guys really appreciate it, I will email OPC to see if they give me my results from the VSE.
Then see what happens, do you think it could it still be possible I may make the next assessment if I passed the VSE?

I called the OPC today because I was concerned that Arriva had told me I had failed a test that I haven't taken. They told me that they couldn't tell me anything and all queries had to go through Arriva. Does anyone have a contact number for Arriva that works? Every number I have tried either rings off or goes to a voicemail with a full mailbox.

I applied and had a confirmation email that they received my application on 11 July. I am being patient as they said I should hear back in 2-4 weeks. I haven't heard anything as yet, keeping my fingers crossed I'll hear soon.

Good luck all.

Exactly. No news is good news.

You’re still in the process till you hear otherwise.

Call opc and find out if its a fail or just not to arrivas standard. You could be sitting on passes that would have you a trainee job at some tocs and most focs tomorrow without knowing otherwise. I know of people who thought they'd failed for years after sitting with arriva, only to find they had national passes which would've had them in work elsewhere.

I think the fail must be the VSE online and not the stage 1 assessment centre . As they would have been required to give feedback back if you went to centre and sat the tests . For them to say no feedback is given I assume it was the vse that was failed, and possibly can’t get feed back on that
