Southern DOO: ASLEF members vote 79.1% for revised deal

I feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall. If you allow the public into a space it becomes a public place. Here is a list of 14 different sections of law that say the same thing. pages 12 and 13...

Southern DOO: ASLEF members vote 79.1% for revised deal

--- old post above --- --- new post below --- I have already said they are private property, that's not in dispute. You can also remove the consent to be on the property that's also not in dispute. The point is when you allow the public into a space that space then becomes a public place for...

Southern DOO: ASLEF members vote 79.1% for revised deal

You can be asked to do anything by anybody as long as it's not against the law. If you comply with the request is a matter for yourself. The station is private land so you can ask the person to leave for failing to comply with a request such as taking photos. You certainly can't stop a...

Southern DOO: ASLEF members vote 79.1% for revised deal

I understand that they are private property. However when you invite the public into a space even if they have to pay the space then becomes public for the period of time the public has access to it. That's why you cant have a knife in a station but you can in your home.

A station, platform or inside of a train is classed as a public space. Any member of the public can film or take pictures in any public space they like and they don't need anybodies permission to do so. I'm fairly sure the film could be used as evidence as long as it's authenticity is clear...

    Children on trains

To inject a bit of positivity into this thread i remember a flight i took a few years back. Can't remember where it was to but a few seats ahead of me was a young couple with a child maybe 2 years old. Over the next few hours I saw some of the best parenting I have ever seen. The couple...

    Children on trains

Jamesb1974 your not the only one who has worked in the public sector and I suspect we have had a similar job. I have not said or even suggested that abuse is a joke and neither has anybody else on this forum. The problem here is that you are equating writing a sentence on an internet forum as...

    Children on trains

I'm sure we can all agree on one thing. I need to learn how to quote correctly.

    Children on trains

“What if there aren't any other free seats?” Stand. Sit down when another seat becomes available. Look for solutions not problems. “I see your point that it might be simpler to move, but equally if everyone did that then a minority of people would take the proverbial **** and make sure they...

    Children on trains

The bottom line here is that any half decent parent would not let their children behave in such a way as to hit another passenger or scream and shout the train down. Children with learning difficulties and or developmental issues are a bit of a case apart but I think it’s fair to assume the...

    Children on trains

Kicking and screaming children are an annoyance i'm sure everybody would agree. However there is a considerable weight of difference between a child swinging there legs about and a grown man making threats to kick you or your child as to cause a bruise. If you actually are doing so then a...

    Any Vacancies?

Jazz The best way to find job vacancies is to look at the websites of the rail companies who operate in your area or who you wish to work for. They all have recruitment pages and any vacancies appear on those pages. Popular jobs like driver are usually advertised for a short period of time so...

    XC Assessment Shenanigans

185 I still think your wrong about the question being relevant. It clearly wasn’t and isn’t in almost all group tasks. The sudden appearance of a right answer was most likely the assessors misguided explanation for binning those who didn’t perform as well as the others during the task. I would...

    XC Assessment Shenanigans

The issue of the task being an accurate representation of what the U.S Coast Guard would advise is totally irrelevant. Group exercises have rarely been about the answers you give but how you behave during the task. Group exercises clearly play a role in recruitment as they identify “problem”...

    Chiltren Railways Customer Service Ambassador

Hi runju265 I think the role involves serving ferrero rocher on the platform to VIP's (only kidding). A high ranking position? From what I know it's a customer service role that mostly involved non-safety critical work. It would be a good foundation to start from if you wanted to work your...
