Excess when stopping short on an advance

I’m currently on a train holding an advance single. I’d like to get off one stop earlier than planned. Am I right that the worst that can happen is an excess, presumably to the off peak single between the station I boarded and my new destination?

    Oxford - Torquay without Bristol

Ah, got it - thank you.

    Oxford - Torquay without Bristol

My itenary yesterday was Oxford - Didcot, Didcot - Swindon, Swindon - Newton Abbot (Via Castle Cary) - it's this later leg that I can't find for the 9th. Maybe there was some quirk of yesterday?

    Oxford - Torquay without Bristol

Hi Yesterday I travelled Oxford - Torquay and back changing trains at Didcot, Swindon and Newton Abbot. I'm trying to book for 9th March, and planners seem to insist I go via Bristol. I can force via Swindon, but the route I get is still via Bristol. Has something changed in the timetable, or...

Reused Anytime short distance return ticket

Interesting case this. I know Trainline aren’t popular but their app has a very useful ‘mark ticket as used’ function which lets the user separate tickets they’ve travelled on from those they have not.

    TRACSIS Ticket audit

Thanks for the reply! I asked and was told firmly that they worked for crosscountry. They wanted to view, but not scan, my ticket and for me to tell them where I was going.

    TRACSIS Ticket audit

I’m currently on a Crosscountry train; a member of Crosscountry staff has already done an efficient and friendly ticket check. Someone from a company called Tracsis has just announced a ‘ticket audit’. I have no idea what this data is being used for, or who Tracsis are. Any thoughts on whether...

Caught without a day ticket - Chiltern

How did you get through the barriers at Oxford? It's very very rare for them to be open at this time in the morning.

Network Railcard on train departing Oxford before 10am?

Just a note to say that the title of the thread has been updated on request. I still think it's odd that you can't see a list of when easements apply online! (Oh, and the barriers accepted the ticket at both ends - no inspection in between though)

Network Railcard on train departing Oxford before 10am?

OK, interesting (though this train doesn't appear on the easement list). I shall give it a go...

Network Railcard on train departing Oxford before 10am?

I was fairly shocked this morning to go to book a 9.32 train from Oxford to Paddington via Trainline, only to have it apply my Network Railcard discount. I'm 99% sure that this isn't valid, but if I wasn't intimately familiar with the fare structure on this route, I would have happily gone ahead...

Nuneham Viaduct shut - Didcot- Oxford

Just a note to add that these services can be used for no additional cost if you have a rail ticket (as per GWR: https://www.gwr.com/oxford-update). I've used the X32 twice without ever being asked to show my ticket.

Fare from Oxford/Didcot to the west on GWML

GWR tickets currently accepted on the S6 too…though I think it’s still likely to be slower than getting to Didcot from Oxford then getting the train.

    TfL Capping/Fare calculation query

Ah! I hadn't realised it would be the zone 3 - 6 fare, I was looking at fares from zone 2. Thanks.

    TfL Capping/Fare calculation query

I am a bit mystified by the cost of a set of journeys taken the other day. It couldn't matter less, but I have been unable to work out exactly why these are the amounts charged, and if someone could I help it would put me out of my misery. I used contactless throughout. Paddington (off peak) -...
