One thing to note about the X1/X2 era is that in those days it was tendered. It was only later when it became the X41 that it became commercial.
I did have vague recollections that it was tendered in the later Stagecoach Ribble days but couldn't remember if it was certain journeys or sections of route. One thing to note about the X1/X2 era is that in those days it was tendered. Can anyone point me in the direction of a fleet list please? The earlier one in the thread is now a dead link.
It is linked from https://www.wyis.org.uk/ in case the pdf name changes

Is there any way that the title of this thread could be updated ?
Rosso are ending the 7,8,11,12 and 13 in January. 11,12,13 are subsidised anyway so the council will try to find a new operator. This means Rosso will no longer operate any route entirely contained within Rossendale.

Where did you find this?
Villages in Rossendale to be cut off completely as bus services slashed
Rosso have terminated their operating contracts with the county council on several local routes
Passengers across large swathes of the borough could be cut off in the New Year after it was announced unprofitable local bus services will be axed.
Rosso have terminated their operating contracts on the Lancashire County Council-controlled 7, 8, 11, 12 and 13 local routes from January 2020.
While some of the scrapped routes are expected to be re-tendered in some form by LCC - including statutory home-to-school transport provision - the cuts could leave villages without bus access.
Former Waterfoot councillor Tim Nuttall is worried about the impact on some communities.
He said: “None of our housing estates will have a service to link into the mainline routes, Weir and Helmshore will lose their buses and the Todmorden route, resurrected a couple of years ago as a reward after the Tories took control of County Hall, will disappear again.”
A spokesperson for Rosso, which was sold by Rossendale council to French-owned Transdev in January 2018, said: “We have requested that we terminate our contracts to operate the Rawtenstall local services (7, 8, 11, 12 and 13) from January. These routes all make a loss.
"We have made our best efforts to turn this situation around over the past two years and have improved reliability in the process, but the losses have continued. These routes are controlled by the county council and are not specified as such by Rosso, who simply run them under contract to them.”
Rosso say they will work with LCC to ensure “an effective transition” and insist the decision is unrelated to Rawtenstall’s new £3.5m bus station.
The announcement also comes just weeks after they hailed ‘an amazing turnaround in fortunes’ plus 14pc passenger growth across all routes.
The spokesperson added: “The opening of the new bus station complements the huge investment we have already made in vehicles and we believe will add up to create a first class public transport offer in Rawtenstall and beyond.
“It will impact on our operational costs in the long term but, for now, current costs to us remain similar to what we paid to use the old facility.”
The 11, 12 and 13 local Rawtenstall circular buses serve Haslingden, Helmshore, Balladen and New Hall Hey with around 10 services per route per day.
Rosso operates the 7 and 8 seven times on weekdays, with LCC funding non-commercially viable sections. They serve New Line, Edgeside and Newchurch, with the 7 calling at Todmorden via Sharneyford, and the 8 at Burnley via Weir.
An LCC spokesman said: “Whilst the section of route between Bacup and Burnley is currently provided without subsidy, these services are also used by over 60 students who qualify for statutory home to school transport from Weir and Bacup to The Valley Leadership Academy. We are currently working with transport providers to explore the options to maintain a sustainable replacement service.”
That being the case, running large numbers of 'not in service' buses from Burnley to Bury area and from Blackburn to Rochdale must be giving them some thoughts for future service cuts!Presumably the agreed subsidy dates back to Rossendale Council days and was based on costs of operating from Haslingden. The extra cost of operating them from further afield now being the issue; Transdev appointed a new financial director a while back.
Have they closed the Rochdale depot? That being the case, running large numbers of 'not in service' buses from Burnley to Bury area and from Blackburn to Rochdale must be giving them some thoughts for future service cuts!
I’m not sure that is the issue, as some buses on these services start in Burnley, and those that don’t, the extra length of the dead run will be minor in context to the rest of the board.Presumably the agreed subsidy dates back to Rossendale Council days and was based on costs of operating from Haslingden. This is rather churlish now. You don't like Transdev or their Amazing brand - we get it!#Amazing

Unless I'm missing something, Transdev pulled the plug as they were losing money, probably because the tenders were based on running from Haslingden.
The statement, unless I'm missing something else, doesn't claim that Transdev have saved them or that it's amazing. They clearly state, TWICE, that the council have been involved and that they've worked with council. That would seem to be sensible...
Not wishing to indulge in "whataboutery" but IME, Transdev may not be amazing or perfect but they're better than a lot of operators. Recent trips (albeit in West Yorkshire) with a comparison between 14/15 yr old B7RLE/Wright Eclipses with Transdev (very good), Arriva (decent), First (very tired) just emphasise that.
Jeez...could be a lot worse. Perhaps you'd prefer Diamond.....
I don't not like Transdev, I just have a slight dislike for the CEO...
I've actually been praising Transdev on a certain other forum, who seem to be against private operators, over the way they've managed to transform a failing publicly owned operator since it's gone into private ownership..
I don't know Alex Hornby - what's he done to you?

He was replying to alexbus12 who’s sole contribution to this thread seems to be post a sarcastic ‘#amazing’ every few days.Que?! I was pointing out at Transdev have retained the services (as mentioned in their 'Amazing News' newsletter, shared on Alex Hornby's Twitter if you want a read), although they're registered as B&P routes now. More than likely still going to be running Rosso branded vehicles, although the BFC branded Dart was bumbling around Rawtenstall today.
I still don't quite understand why Rochdales routes have been re-registered as B&P routes either. Someone suggested 'one less set of accounts' to do, but if thats the case, why not just have Transdev Lancashire and Transdev Yorkshire and everything else as a brand?
