Welcome to GWR land....It already is, unfortunately.

Where? I haven’t seen them, even turned off. The only screen they have that I have seen is a Voyager style, basic dot matrix display at the ends of each carriage.
Does anyone else find that the Azuma internal carriage-end displays flicker irritatingly? That's what I saw and the message displayed on those was nothing to do with the journey at all!
Yes, all of the newer AT300 units suffer from that it seems (I'm assuming as they're all using the same displays, certainly the GWR ones do). Not fitting the colour displays when the legacy stock had them does seem a bit of a backward step.Does anyone else find that the Azuma internal carriage-end displays flicker irritatingly?
I've never seen the KeTech screens like those fitted to the Mk4s, and I guess the Azuma fleet has comparatively few exposed bulkheads for those anyway - even fewer once extra luggage storage is added.
Again, the seat matter is subjective - my grandparents (both in their 70s, and extremely picky about seats) said that they preferred the Azuma over the IC125/IC225 on an Edinburgh - London journey recently!Elderly neighbours made their very first trip on an Azuma in First Class on the northbound Chieftain on Friday. They travelled south on an old school LNER electric after a Scotrail connection.
Completely unprompted, I've never brought up the subject of the 'new trains' with them, they said:
- seats too small
- seats too hard
- too many seats crammed in
- tickets way more expensive than they were this time last year
Also unprompted by me, they said that they don't understand how this can be progress.
As a matter of fact, I don't agree that the First Class seats are too small, and I've got used to the firmness of them now. But old people don't like them. Oh well.
When is the lightning being changed or was that just a wind up? The lighting is still very intense, not what you want at 6 in the morning!
I had a pleasent enough trip back to Wakefield on one the other day. There was a twenty minute delay at the Cross whilst the train had to be rebooted. The danger of running everything off a computer I suppose.
That's the exact ones.Where? I haven’t seen them, even turned off. The only screen they have that I have seen is a Voyager style, basic dot matrix display at the ends of each carriage.
I don't think it is?
It's a shame for such a modern train with LED lights not to have mood-style lighting or at least the option to change brightness settings. Again all part of the passenger comfort and experience... Although i was told its to do with EU regulations...
Also in a tweet reply to me David Horne says they have reduced the harshness of the lighting.
Pleased to see they’re listening.

DfT have to approve any fleet changes on any franchise (excepting those devolved to Scottish and Welsh governments).I doubt that the Dft has any control over operational decisions made by LNER or any other TOC.
In a similar vein they clearly have no control over Northern or TPE!
In a word: NoFrom the LNER website today:-
13:15 Leeds to London Kings Cross due 15:31
Further info:
10 car Azuma, the southbound unit is in reverse.
Formation is now as follows: South North
Are we supposed to understand this?

Theres zero benefit on the ECML for splitting / doubling.
5 leeds & Lincoln services short formed today.
Appears to becoming the norm to use 5 coach units every day
There are definitely regulations about minimum light levels on board of trains (see TSI-PRM) but none of these make it impossible to dynamically adjust the light to the outside conditions. The colour tone can be adapted as well.Although i was told its to do with EU regulations...

None of the LNER HST sets have a coach A. (Their mkIV sets don't have an A or G.)Turned out to be a HST missing coaches A and G.

LNER don’t have any HSTs.The 12:03 from King's Cross was, according to the LNER booking system supposed to be an Azuma. Turned out to be a HST missing coaches A and G. Not a regular on the ECML but it's not good to hear that quite a few services are short formed.
Those issues are presumably related? If the TMS doesn't know where the train is, the reservation system won't be of any use.1803 to Skipton tonight, no reservations due to a fault. No hot drinks service , the on board announcement said we were approaching Peterborough five minutes after leaving Kings Cross., then five minutes after actually leaving Peterborough. My first time on an Azuma and I thought it was a rough ride. Fortunately I can choose to travel to London via Lancaster as well as Skipton and will do in future.
