Safest part of a train in a crash

16th February 1980, Bushey In my case I was sat in one of the central coaches at a window seat, with a table, and with back to the direction of travel when we derailed. The coach rolled, and I think may have somersaulted as well, and I walked away with a broken nose. In this particular...

Southern Only tickets and validity on Gatwick Express

The downlander ticket is indeed a print at home ticket. The daysave ticket that I wanted to buy is a normal ticket, except you need to buy at least 7 days in advance, 14 days during holiday periods.

Southern Only tickets and validity on Gatwick Express

Re. Downlander tickets I have been trying to buy a downlander for this Saturday since Christmas. In December it only gave the option of buying one for December 2011, despite the blurb saying you can buy up to 3 months in advance. Once we got into January I got the message about no tickets...

    Quick question re. Cumbria

Tony_mac - there is no reason at all why the anytime return isn't suitable, it's simply a case of forgetting to check return fares! However, given that the rover is only 70p more, I will probably get that and see if I can squeeze anything else in. Thanks for the quick responses.

    Quick question re. Cumbria

Next Sunday, en route to Scotland, I'll be overnighting in Carlisle. I was looking at doing the 15:35 Carlisle to Preston service. As far as I can see the only price available is a £60ish single fare. Would a Cumbria Day Ranger @ £36.00 be valid on this service as it doesn't go any further...

    Grand Central £15 Withdrawn???

I have to say that I agree with you. Luckily he was able to find a seat elsewhere in the coach.

    Grand Central £15 Withdrawn???

I caught the 07:47 to Sunderland on Saturday morning and it was certainly chaotic at the start of the journey. I was thrown by the fact that I had a reservation for seat D49 when coach D only had 48 seats. A member of staff took me through to coach E and turfed somebody out of their seat in...
