Park Royal car accident - driver charged

Tell that to the family of Zara Aleena and many others.

Park Royal car accident - driver charged

Given how much better the world would be if some criminals spent more, or even any time in jail, for despicable intentional acts which can even intentionally ruin lives, it seems hard to understand what is achieved in this case with a jail sentence of this length, particularly when the...

New Car Tyres - Cuts etc

So you're saying you thought you had a Summer tyre, but they thought it was an All Season? What tyre was it? There are a wide variety of Summer tyres available which can have very different tread patterns depending on what the manufacturer was trying to optimise them for. I can imagine a Summer...

New Car Tyres - Cuts etc

I imagine the tyres most typically fitted in the UK are Summer ones, which is what they'd consider Summer ones too.

New Car Tyres - Cuts etc

I think they're the best option for many people, good all seasons in particular, but the idea that summer tyres are just for those 'obsessed with shaving a tenth of a second off a lap time on a warm day' is rather ridiculous.

New Car Tyres - Cuts etc

It's not really a matter of 'shaving a tenth of a second off a lap time'. You can't on one hand argue that using summer tyres on a typical British winter day is poor and act like they're entirely unusable if the 'weather turns nasty', while not recognising that all seasons are sub optimal in...

New Car Tyres - Cuts etc

As in, you won't be pushing them too hard in the summer. For just plodding about as most people do, all seasons are fine for the summer.

New Car Tyres - Cuts etc

I agree with much of what you've said, but as others have said and I imagine you know, in much of the UK it is entirely normal for people to have fitted and use summer tyres all year round. I don't think the OP should be given the impression they were duped on this front. Whether you or I agree...

If you are driving slowly should you pull over to let other traffic pass?

I've found it's well observed and works well, particularly in the Far North. Making progress is largly stress free.

If you are driving slowly should you pull over to let other traffic pass?

But if you can stick to 55, is there a problem going 60? Not that this is the greatest issue.

If you are driving slowly should you pull over to let other traffic pass?

There are many places where I would not consider that reasonable, though in truly heavy rain, there are many places where I would, depending on the road. I would not consider night time to be a major factor on most roads though, personally, particularly when there's nothing coming the other way...

If you are driving slowly should you pull over to let other traffic pass?

You could just pull over briefly when there are opportunities to do so and allow other traffic to pass, rather than knowingly impeding the progress of other road users. It'll be quite hard for everyone else to plan for the pace of driving you may wish to dictate.

Will there come a point soon where people won’t have to learn how to drive a manual car?

Diesels are generally more forgiving to drive with a clutch than petrols, particularly higher powered ones with plenty of torque. While I'm not advocating scrapping the manual license, in terms of sheer danger, I think there's probably more risk involved in being unfamiliar with automatics...

Will there come a point soon where people won’t have to learn how to drive a manual car?

I think it'll be long enough for it not to be worth considering this decade, at least.

There's only so much ordinary seatbelts will do in an aeroplane crash, even if she was wearing one... Looking at the pictures, the interior/safety cell looked to have held up really well. I think the JLR engineers should be pretty proud.

    Cutting corners when driving

You'd think in this day and age, where we're regularly advised that we must do everything possible to conserve resources, that so much energy being wasted by people excessively braking into and then accelerating out of corners would be considered more of an issue... There are many places where...

We should surely run less train to save the planet and offer disgruntled passengers counselling for their troubles.

    Apparently reducing driver frustration is...

I imagine you do, in the rear-view mirror. Are either you or Kingston Dan residents of the Highlands or regular (or even irregular) users of the A9? Presumably neither of you would venture so far by car, for the benefit of all mankind.

Russian invasion of Ukraine - Could this affect international travel to Eastern Europe?

If they're worried about going to the Czech Republic, they should probably be worried about being here too. I'm not sure that'd be reassuring for your friend though!
