Hang on, isn't 57212 in 150921 or am I behind times?

150921 and 150927 have now been disbanded. 150925 and 150926 will take their place.

Both of the 3-car 150 hybrids (150921 and 150927) recently had their additional carriages removed for their C6 exam, and they were both renumbered back to just 150121 and 150127. However, it looks as if carriage 57212, which was as you correctly say part of 150921, has been put in to 150126 instead, hence 150926.

I shall look out for the unit when I'm out and about in Bristol tomorrow :)

Also, why was a 3-car 150 replaced with a 2-car 150 just before the busy periods?! (i.e. school and rush hour).

As stated above, yes BB you are behind the times. ;)

Two possible reasons are that the unit was put on there for shake down and needed to go back to the Marsh for checking, or that there was a fault requiring hitting with a hammer (normal SPM repair technique ).

150(1)25 is 'Heart of the Wessex line' isn't it? If so its red stickers should make it easy to spot.

150125 was out last night but isn't allocated today so the centre carriage might be going in today to make up 150925.

That's what's booked to happen. The two 150/9s are booked to work Severn Beach Line services in the morning and other services in the evening peak.

It comes out of Severn Beach working to work 16 15 to Bristol Parkway and thence to Warminster as an evening peak service. This became a 3 Car after the withdrawal of the 16 55 Filton Abbeywood to Westbury.

I forgot the diagram to be fair.

150926 was on the 1838 Westbury to Avonmouth this evening.

The other usual repair technique I've seen employed by SPM's finest is the application, using the theory of levers, of a size nine steel toe-capped boot. In other words, give it a kick.

Have they stopped the use of the Tape it and It'll be fine results then? I think that's still commonly used by Canton though!

926 is currently working-
1F13 11:30 CDF-PMH 14:54,
By my reckoning it should then work-

1F26 15:23 PMH-CDF 18:43
5F99 18:46 CDF-CDF 19:08
1F99 19:30 CDF-PMH 23:04
5F99 23:09 PMH-Fratton depot 23:32

Neither 150125 or 150925 are allocated today.

Not ideal 158/9 substitution, but still better than 2 carriages on this very busy route

925 was still on SPM yesterday, but now carrying the number 150925. Should expect it out today or Monday

And yet the 1646 Bristol Parkway to Warminster, which is one of the 150/9 diagrams, was formed of 153318 and 150266 :P

Still 3 Carriages as booked. During this interim period when no 150/9s available, their duties have been covered by 150+153 to retain the capacity.

Yesterday (17th) it was back to being a 150 + 153 again. Glad to see the 150 hybrids back again!

EDIT: Just saw your more recent post.

926 was working in place of the booked 158 on the 0954 Bristol - Cardiff and 1130 Cardiff - Portsmouth yesterday, and mighty snug it was too yesterday. The 158 failed at Temple Meads with a wiper fault.

The single 150 carriage wouldn't be able to go on the end because the 150/1s lack the carriage walk through where the driving cabs are.

I wonder why these class 150 hybrids have always been with the 150/1s though (rather than 150/2s)? I know the extra carriages added from the damaged DMUs also have 3+2 seating, could this be why?

Explained on the WNXX forum that there was a plan to put them in 150202 and 150216 but this was overruled because there wouldn't be sufficient 2-car 150/2s. It is notable that the extra car is on the end of the 158/9s rather than in the middle.

You could imagine that 3-car units are less likely to couple to another unit than 2-car units so it makes sense to put 57209 and 57212 in to units without end gangways.

*Techniquest bellows an expanded version of "Oh FFS!" upon reading this thread, and let's not go there with what followed*

Why would they disband 921 and 927? I don't see the point in that. It sure looks like I'll need to get down to Bristol at some point soon to score these ones off. Took me long enough to get 921 and 927 as it was!

*Predicts 120 and 131 will be next to get re-formed and re-numbered, the day after I score both of those*
