Avanti careers posted on their job website from 09.30 today and will only be up for one day. hope this helps anyone
Hi Dan, A friend of the family told me about Avanti's 40x trainee driver recruitment. I appear to have bene looking in the wrong place. Is it correct that the process is not yet closed and 30x more will be opened over 2022 (fingers crossed). regards

Anyone know what the shift patterns and rest day patterns are for an Avanti driver these days? Do they get a long weekend like other TOCs?

You’ll do earlies, lates and nights. In the bottom link you’ll be doing the earliest starts and the latest finishes.
It’s a 5 day week so you have the fixed rest day pattern that most 4 day patterns have at other Tocs have. You’ll get a week of rest days every 5 weeks.

Is that 5 days on (working) and 2 off in contrast to the 4 on and 3 off elsewhere?

No you’ll get one day off in the week plus the Sunday (unless you’re rostered to work it, then you’re on a 6 day week).

Cheers for your time. I forgot to ask one very important question for me. This will be the very last one:
How many Sundays do you have to work in a year (booked Sundays)? Thanks.
The bottom link has 13 Sundays in 30 lines of work.

Forgive me. But does that mean 13 Sundays out of 52 weeks in the year? How long does it take to work the 30 lines - 30 weeks i presume? Just interested in how many Sundays in a year I would definately have to work if going over to Avanti? Cheers.

Each week is a line. So in 30 weeks you’ll be rostered to work 13 Sundays. Because it doesn’t fit into a year, it would depend on where you start the link at the beginning of the year as to how many you would end up being rostered to in the year.

I attended morning of 16th. National standard for me. Frustrating, but it was my first OPC assessment and a good experience. Just gutted that the national standard I achieved will possibly end my applications with TfW and WMR as I believe they both require enhanced also. I don't know if anybody can confirm/rule-out if an enhanced fail with one TOC may still make the grade with another TOC with a lower enhanced benchmark? Wishful thinking on my part.

Good luck to those progressing to the next stage.

Try CrossCountry; they accept national standard passes…

If you average it out it is probably about 22-23 Sundays.

Just a heads up for anyone else in the same position. I sat the 1st day assessments with Avanti and had been invited back for the 2nd day assessments. In the meantime I sat my remaining assessments with a different TOC, passing them all to enhanced.

I contacted OPC regarding my avanti assessment day and was told because I'd sat the MMI I'd have to wait 6 months to sit the avanti tests because they use a different type of interviews (CBI). Pretty frustrating on all accounts, especially as 1) I wasn't told this at any stage by OPC and 2) it doesn't make much sense if they're two different tests?

So save yourself a journey if you're in the same boat. Don't think I would've been told until I arrived for day 2 unless I'd contacted them myself.

Good luck to those still in the process.

Yes this has been mentioned on here a few times and really should be mentioned during the process!
I pulled out of this as I already had all my testing done except CBI and I didn't want to overwrite my MMI score which every other TOC seem to use

When did you sit your MMI and CBI? Within 6 months of each other?

I wonder when Avanti will be having driver training courses for Wolverhampton and I’m also aware that Avanti will be recruiting for Wolverhampton again in June and also for Manchester and Liverpool?

Courses generally tend to be mixed so you’ll have a small number from each depot on a course.

Courses are running every 3 months, next one in July.
