Not really a fan of the blue doors, orange or white would be nicer IMO

Are they replacing trains with toilets with these without them? That will be a disaster on match/concert days at Twickenham.

Generally on event days from my experience of working these it's very common to actually find a working toilet on a 450 or a 458 anyway And they tend to run 455's on the Windsors and Rugby Specials anyway. So there's practically not going to be a difference and you'd think the extra capacity (standing capacity) would be welcomed to cram more in like Sardines.

what slam door stock was on these routes?

I think before the 450s arrived the Windsor & Eton Riverside services were mostly 455 and Hounslow Loop a mix of 423 and 455.

As a Hounslow Loop passenger I'm looking forward to the 707s, especially if they have "everyone's favourite" seats :D <D. OK having toilets is useful, but reliability on the 458s isn't the best.

One other thing I have against 450s and presumably 707s will be similar is that they are like Fariday cages and I can not listen to my radio.

It seems to be a common theme for modern stock to act like a fariday cage, it was mentioned in a recent thread that the Pendolino coaches act like a fariday cage

Isn't it more a case of solar reflecting glass/film? It's not really going to be like a Faraday cage with windows - even small ones.

I've been in real Faraday cages at a phone network and they feel like going into a nuclear bunker!

Although I do remember from the IEP specification that it was required for the units, in some way or another, to provide an on-board 3G/4G signal.

Are there enough similarities between the 450s and 707s that drivers won't have to do the full 707 training course if they already sign 450s or will they have to do the full course irespective of what classes they already sign?

377 to 387 is a days course so would be surprised if the conversion course is anything different on the Desiro's.

The Desiro City cab has a lot more differences compared to the Desiro UK than the 387 has compared to the 377.

The Desiro City cab has a lot more differences compared to the Desiro UK than the 387 has compared to the 377.

The 387 is an Electrostar version 1.5. If you're doing true equivalents, the Desiro City is to the previous generation Desiro UK (classes 185, 350, 360, 444, 450) what the Aventra (Class 345 and 710) is to the Electrostar (357, 375-379) and Turbostar (Later class 168, plus class 170-172).

The 387 (and to a lesser extent, 379 and the last 377s) and 380 (desiro) are the "evolution" versions, packing some of the tech and design of the later model lines into essentially the shell of the previous model.

The Desiro 7xxs are probably closer to class 380s then any other existing Desiro class

Not the driving desk though. The driving desk is completely new and answers the UIC 612 standard.

As an enthusiast alone, there's little point in speculating.
