Video just been posted over on the TfW Livery thread shows 4 more coaches and a DVT heading for TfW conversion works.
Yep, the third set for TfW was moved to Eastleigh last Wednesday as noted on the previous page.Video just been posted over on the TfW Livery thread shows 4 more coaches and a DVT heading for TfW conversion works.
When the Mk 4 sets are ready and working, could they move the Mk 3s to the Rhymney services to save on the hire costs for the Mk2s doing it right now?
Would that be a fourth set? Because on the previous page it was stated that three sets were already at Eastleigh.Video just been posted over on the TfW Livery thread shows 4 more coaches and a DVT heading for TfW conversion works.
Isn't removing the mark 2s dependant on getting some 769s into service which still seems along way off? Or will getting rid of the mark 2s be prioritised, as part of the cascade following 170 introduction, ahead of removing Pacers?By the time all the Mk 4 sets have entered service there shouldn't be any more need for the Mk 2s anyway. When the Mk 4 sets are ready and working, could they move the Mk 3s to the Rhymney services to save on the hire costs for the Mk2s doing it right now?

No it's the third set as it's DVT 82216 and component parts of set BN25, which as I noted above were moved to Eastleigh (Or at least as far as Reading en route), behind 66154, last Wednesday.Would that be a fourth set? The set with the TfW liveried DVT, which I assume, but don't know, is 82226 as the first to have gone into works, has been out for it's first test run from Eastleigh with an EWS liveried class 67 this evening. The coaches remain in VTEC livery. I think this may have been the working, to Willesden?

Thanks for that.Yep, that was it. 67008 with 82226.
And according to a tweet I saw before from Transport for Wales, they will remain in VTEC livery as well. Forgive me but I cannot seem to find where this tweet is, however. The coaches remain in VTEC livery.
That would seem a peculiar policy decision given that the mark 4 sets will be with the TfW franchise for the long term and the locos and DVTs are both being repainted. And according to a tweet I saw before from Transport for Wales, they will remain in VTEC livery as well. Are they doing anything with all the space in the DVT?
AnyNorth Wales products that could be taken to Cardiff (good PR for organic products on green transport) or government docs to/from Cardiff?

this is what TfW said back in August

That's interesting and unexpected, thanks for the information. The locos will be named after the charity and the DVT will have a livery (a photo of the charity) applied. I'll be surprised if the carriages have a special livery and aren't just left in VTEC colours.

Has this been announced anywhere? As far as I know Air Ambulance isn’t on the list of charities, and green certainly isn’t in TfWs brand guidelines
The small Modern Railways piece (October issue, I think) said that no internal reconfiguration was planned prior to service entry, so that isn't too surprising. The article did imply that there may be changes at a later date (ie. after entering service) but that any such work had not been finalised.Still a full first in the set I see.
IF there were to be a later refurbishment then maybe they are leaving the relivery until then? It certainly looks a bit odd with the all-white DVT but VTEC liveried coaches. The DVT looks a bit plain without a window band or even much red. That would seem a peculiar policy decision given that the mark 4 sets will be with the TfW franchise for the long term and the locos and DVTs are both being repainted. And according to a tweet I saw before from Transport for Wales, they will remain in VTEC livery as well. Your graphic makes the all-white DVT make rather more sense; I don't like the big arrows though (and possibly not just because they look very much like the South East Wales Metro logo to me).The locos will be named after the charity and the DVT will have a livery (a photo of the charity) applied. But it isn't. TfW livery is grey and red.TfW livery is, er, red and white
It’s incredibly cheap as it is, considering you get a full 3 course meal and soft drinks included.Plenty of first class provision then, perhaps a decrease in the upgrade fee to encourage people to use it?
Quite. If they're going to do anything to try and increase utilisation it might be to play around with 1st class APs at the moment I believe there is only one tier of 1st AP. For instance Cardiff to Chester is £57. There might be an argument for a slightly lower tier (down in the £40s maybe) which might trigger some more demand. Though if I were TfW I'd probably hold tight on tweaking the fares too much and see whether the existence of more trains offering 1st class might not actually stimulate demand in and of itself at the same price point. It’s incredibly cheap as it is, considering you get a full 3 course meal and soft drinks included.
