The way the boundary will be marked is blindly straight forward - plain line ie, no points. NWR maintain upto X sleeper and beyond TfW maintain.
Add the section across Cardiff West Junction to the TfW managed track, and you introduce no end of problems.
For Example:
Points 12345A fails which is on TfW inferstructure, however those points have multiple ends and interlocking to NWR points.
Who pays?
Why add complexity and cost ?
Before this discussion on the iniquities or otherwise of TfW & NR goes much further can I suggest it's taken to another thread rather than cluttering up this thread with offtopic posts?Oh to live in such a simple world.
Much of the recent discussion is duplicated in the South Wales Metro thread.

Fully aware that politics, government and anything regarding Rail engineering is complex, expensive and time consuming but there is no logical reason why the mile and a half/two miles from Queen Street to Canton can’t be wired.
Reading-Basingstoke has been pushed back to *at least* CP6 (e.g. up to 2024 and possibly beyond), along with Twyford-Henley & Slough-Windsor.Is Reading to Basingstoke due to be wired, plus Windsor/Henley/Marlow or will GWR have to keep 165/166's for the foreseeable future?

Unless the plans have changed, the Windsor and Henley branches, the North Downs line (possibly the Basingstoke line too) will get the 769s. GWR have apparently been looking at other options for Marlow and Greenford. There are rumours about using bi-mode converted 455s (presumably as 3 car sets). Is Reading to Basingstoke due to be wired, plus Windsor/Henley/Marlow or will GWR have to keep 165/166's for the foreseeable future?

Pacers?3 car sets no good for the Marlow, only two cars fit between the blocks at Bourne End and the points for the branch to Marlow, likewise the Greenford is limited to a 2 car unit.
There was a discussion in the 230 thread a while back, I think the official line was that they were exploring other (bi-mode) options. At that time they thought 3x20m would fit at Bourne End, but those plans may have changed.3 car sets no good for the Marlow, only two cars fit between the blocks at Bourne End and the points for the branch to Marlow, likewise the Greenford is limited to a 2 car unit.

Bi-modal 456s perhaps? (I appreciate there's no 750V DC nearby)Cheers for including the link, I hadn’t seen that discussion. Makes sense if the vehicles are shorter. I was only going off the fact that when allocating stock to the Marlow Donkey or Greenford Branch we are only allowed to allocate a 2 car Turbo.
How about one of these?Bi-modal 456s perhaps? (I appreciate there's no 750V DC nearby)
Or...dare I say it...Vivarail D-Trains? A battery-operated handful of those could be very useful for 2-car carbon-neutral (ish) operation of those branches, and maintenance could be carried out at small local depots (in the vein of Stourbridge Jct).
Wouldn't bank on the unions accepting that one!How about one of these?

Would they be happier with this?Wouldn't bank on the unions accepting that one!
