Anyone know if theirs any scheduled departures around 11am this morning for the 'green' hst' or turbo's from Paddington not travelled on one yet and I'd like too

Sorry, only just seen this, won't help you now but 166206 worked the 11:18 Pad - Bedwyn service.

As for the others:

166204 was working Thames Valley services (was at Oxford around 11:00)
166208 was working the North Downs (Reading - Gatwick - Reading)

166205 (the one with the gWr interior) is working the Reading - Basingstoke shuttles.

Can't say what they'll work tomorrow until the depot allocate them to their diagrams and send the numbers across to control.

Just saw a green 166 on the back of a 6 car Cotswolds service (1p21) heading up to Paddington. Oh, and 1W13 going the other way has just passed as a 3 car green unit.

1P21 was 166208 / 1W13 was 166206

Just come back from the Wolverton Works Open Day, can confirm that 166210, 150232 and SLEP 10612 are in GW livery. 166212 is also there, undergoing overhaul. They have a strict no-pictures policy there, so no shots I'm afraid.

I know 10596, 12142, 321415, 321417, a UID 166, a UID Chiltern 165, a DMCO of 375703 (no. 67833), Mk4 barrier vehicles 6352 and 6353, 319218, 12097, an AGA 11xxx coach, riviera sleeper 10572 (not in the P5 publications), and a Pretendolino vehicle (which I assume is spare) were all there in addition to the ones mentioned above. Unfortunately, for the UID vehicles, I didn't enquire as to every single no. there, as a lot were under repair/paint.

Incidentally, there's a Blue 166 missing it's centre car as I'm currently sat in 58609 formed in between 165128.

One of the driving vehicles of 166209 has serious fire damage after the well-publicised incident on the North Downs a couple of weeks ago. With that out of traffic and 150001 away for repaint the 3 car fleet is being stretched very thinly indeed. The decision was taken to remove the good centre car out of 209 and insert it into 128 to make another 3/165 available for traffic. For diagramming purposes it is counted as a 3 car 165.

150001 is not away for a repaint - it will get one but its away for a C6+ major overhaul

Well, yes, but to the lay-person who doesn't know what a C6+ entails, I considered "away for repaint" to be a factually correct and more appropriate response for my target audience.

A works open where nobody is allowed to take any pictures?! That's different. Was it invited guests only and sign a secrecy agreement on the door?!

Are the staff at waterloo station okay with us taking photos and keep switching platforms? :|

So presumably the 'lay-person' would then wonder why a repaint takes 6 weeks or so to do

Not so much 'invited guests' as a 'pay in advance' type thing. The TOCs didn't want shots taken of the vehicles undergoing maintenance, so if shots did make it onto t'web, our guide would be under the cosh.

It's the middle car out of 166209.

I thought it was, thanks for confirming that it was the Betchworth unit. Doesn't half look odd, the blue car intercepting the Dynamic Lines Turbo. Let alone the nicer interior.

Indeed so, 150001s was due it's C6 - And from my contacts, also in need of a little more mechanical TLC. The repaint - if into GWR Green as mooted - is true, then is coming purely out of a co-incidental chance while it's under overhaul

(Not aimed at you Brian, you've confirmed what I knew)

To be fair, it's an understandable rule - a few of the depot's & rail facilities I've worked in or visited in the past have been the same. Some can be a little more relaxed than others - I.e, promising that the pictures are for your own personal use and wont end up online, but others, like Wolverton, can be a blanket ban. Bit of a shame really, given that Wolverton's future is still up in the air and potentially about to be consigned to history but there you go.

Bear in mind what is based at Wolverton and it is quite understandable that, apart from TOC requests, they would be a bit stricter there...

Average.

I think it would look far better if they only used one of the slanty matt bands at the Cab end of each vehicle - putting two on there looks odd. As does the choice of swapping the silver band onto the doors with that awful shade of limey green. And I wish they'd stop putting gWr on the front of the units too, this looks less ridiculous than the Class 165/166 Efforts, but it still looks odd.

In all honesty, the plan blue version looked smarter. Simple and more modern than this latest effort. I'd rank it as one of the less well fitting liveries the 150s have ever carried.

Looks really great and smart, except for the GWR logo on the yellow end. Looks squeezed in and I'm not sure why they bothered.

Does any one know whether the 800/801/802s will still need a yellow end, or do they have the correct lights to be exempt? Will they be green all over with a silver GWR logo on the front-think that would look pretty sweet!

Disagree! I assume the lime green lines on the doors are florescent/hi-vis in the dark.

How long have they had the cab door with passenger door controls? Would have thought that could cause confusion, especially as it is also silver.
I think they have always have been like that, its for when the cab is in the middle of the formation.

Northerns are the same.
