Found out today that Ilford are mega short of Depot Drivers! 15 short I believe and only 7 on current course.

Thats strange because I was definetly told yesterday he was only recruting 3 more people for the 1st of Feb start date

The standards are not that high for hearing however you do need to have reasonably good hearing to pass the test, it's the same with eyesight, railway group standards are pretty good with eyesight as well, I had an eye test before my last medical and asked the optition to do an RGS eyetest for me and I was surprised at how far I had to read down the sheet, it was ommiting the bottom 2 lines!

I was interviewed pre-xmas. Nope no answer yet.

which depot are you applying for?

which interview are you up to? I presume that you have passed the structured interview and are waiting for a date for your DM interview? Or have you had the DM interview and just waiting on the result?

I had a DM interview in December. I have been to Stratford no less than 4 times.

Well done mate. You must be really chuffed! :D

When did you find out that you were in? What was their method of contact?

Dont get too disheartened yet. Until you have had the letter saying you have been unsuccessful they you still are in there. The HR dept can take ages. Even if you are not successful you have still passed the assessments and can still apply for trainee positions with other TOC's.

Thanks Dave1987,

I am sure there are many on here still waiting to hear back. I have no intention of giving up on GA till I get a letter saying that I was unsuccessful. But as you are probably aware, it's the waiting for an answer that drives people up the wall! :)

I wouldn't worry too much peeps! I passed my Assessments/Structured Interview in Sept./Oct. and I was told that it could be August before there is a course available for me at Colchester! Patience is the game and as somebody has pointed out, until you get a letter say "thanks, but no thanks" you're still in the game!

well, the post was originally advertised for Norwich/Ipswich back in July and was only on the website 5 days but I've since been told that it will actually be at Colchester (and reading other posts on this forum, I'm not surprised either).

My husband is also waiting for a Drivers Manager that would be an August start...he was told that will be when they train for Clacton AND Colchester as they are recruiting for both so he was told... So maybe you want to remind your manager of your want to go to colchester Dave!

Ow dont worry, I've checked with my union rep that they know about my move and they do. My DM knows about my move as I submitted the transfer through him. I have been assured by both that I will get my transfer ahead of any new starter. There will be 3 links becoming available at Clacton soon. But I know there are two internals that are on the next DD course.

Has anyone who had a verbal offer last week for a March start date had their contract through yet?

Hi Chris

I had medical last week but don't expect contract untill the end of week as they have to await drug test. Did you get in mate?

That makes it sounds scarier for my husband :( It means there is only one position left from Clacton :( If you move would that create another one?

Also, can he ask for Driver Interview for both Clacton and Colchester? More than one depot or will they not do that?

Thanks Dave, you are a legend on this Forum - very helpful :)

Yes, guessing we're on the same course, starting 1st March?

I'll be based out of Cambridge
