No swap on 2C69 as it now runs from Cardiff to Penzance.
Yes I know it goes to Penzance. 150238 was on 2C69 from Cardiff to Bristol where it was swapped for 158961 which ran the rest of the service however if it had stayed on the diagram then it would have ended up on the Gunnislake branch so when it returned to Plymouth on 2P92 it was swapped for 153361 that came in on 2P93. Also looks like if everything goes to plan, that both 158s will be at Exeter overnight.

Thanks. Didn't realise it had changed at Bristol. 1701 to Liskeard had to stand a little delay waiting for 2C93

Yes, 158961 then took over on the Paignton to Bristol service from Exeter as a pacer was running it and now is back in its home teritory.

There could be disruption on the Cardiff to Portsmouth line today as 7 class 158 units are reported as currently out of traffic.

Thankfully Filton Bank is shut so the Bristol - Portsmouth service requires fewer units

158960 was on 2C85 1700 Cardiff to Taunton on Monday 14 Jan instead of the booked 2 car 158 and 153.

Are there any 158s that are now permanently based at Exeter now, or are they still based at Bristol?

Still allocated to PM at Bristol at the moment. They probably won't go until at least after the Turbos take over completely on the Cardiff to Portsmouths

Seems like today 158766 was put onto a double pacer booked diagram on the Devon metro due to a brake down earlier and 150001 is also covering on a pacer diagram which is nice :)

First post here and as a Devon Metro commuter it was a great novelty to have 150001 working 2R89 yesterday (also known as the teenage special filled with kids down from Barnstaple to Exeter College) as it meant it wasn't sweaty and cramped. So far, I've only had the experience of a 158 working either 2R89 or 2B80 the once (at the start of January) but it was met with surprise by everyone, including the train crew (inc. The Russian female conductor who anyone who's a regular out of EX will know)

Yes I have also been on 2B80 in the past and that service is one of the busiest evening commuter services to Barnstaple so it is good that it is now booked for 4 coaches and not 2 like it used to be as it does get cramped. Today is also a benefit as that diagram is running as 150261 + 143603 :)

It is a decent service now with 4 on rather than 2. However, it will be interesting to see how dwell time is affected by the 158s. Particularly in the mornings, by the time 2R89 gets to Crediton it's always late as the timetable doesn't account for stopping at every request stop and suffering large numbers getting on. I would have thought the 150s would have been better for this reasonably high number of people on the morning commute, but the diagram clearly doesn't work for it! C'est la vie.

Today 2R89 / 2B80 is 150219 + 153333. There has been a shortage of pacers most of this week...

Indeed. I am in the dog box as we speak, yet we've just pulled out of EXD and there's a 2 car 158 in the bay on platform 2. Rhyme and reason have obviously taken a long old holiday with GWR.

Ah right. Is that one of the services that will eventually be a turbo? If so, probably affords a good opportunity to get turbo sunset photos when it's a bit lighter!

Don't think it will be a Turbo as their futures point away from Exeter and West. As always, could change.

Was this 158 in the new GWR livery?

158956 on the Devon Metro today with 957 being on it yesterday
Yes I saw 957 on the Devon Metro yesterday during my work experience at St David’s. Makes a nice change to all the 143s and 150s. Seems to be a lot of 158s working down Devon & Cornwall way now. I’m also excited for them to take over the Barnstaple services in December!
