That looks to be 800308 which is just on that unit. List of the names of the GWR railway employees who died during the 1st world war

I thought that was 800 306?

It was booked on these two today; that would appear to tie in with the 13.27 time on the screenshot:

1C77 10:33 Paddington to Paignton

1A90 14:54 Paignton to Paddington

I read on this forum that some (2?) coaches were taken from the LNER batch and inserted into GW sets. Does anyone know if they retained their original numbers, had never been allocated numbers or were renumbered into the GW series? Thanks for any info.

All the GWR sets have a consistent numbering, so if that is the case they were either renumbered before being accepted by GWR or the swap was made before they were registered.

1D90 1636 London Paddington to Didcot Parkway is (diesel) 800315 instead of the usual 8-car 387, and appears to be timed for 125mph all this week.

Most definitely not Swansea!

I’ve not hit Didcot or Swindon at 70. I’m sure it can be done but I quite like my licence. 40-50 is easily doable though. Chippenham you can have quite a fast approach too, and Reading but only if the signal on the end of the platform is off which is very rare.

As drivers get more experienced I’m sure those numbers will go up.

I did make up quite a bit of time on 1U28 (1912 London - Bristol) last night, definitely my best Swindon - Bristol Parkway time to date: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/C58021/2019/03/26/advanced
What happened after Challow to make you 20 minutes late?

1D90 is now part of an 800(9) diagram. It is as well next week.

Is Stoke Gifford depot able to service electrical components yet?

Speaking of toilets, I've had to make use of a good number of sets over the past week for work. Of these (about 6), 4 had no water et all in the toilets and a lot of noticeable litter - has Hitachi reduced it's servicing remits of the 80X fleet of late?

While passing through Reading this morning on the way to the office, I noticed a pair of 800s (027/029) working a service to Penzance - was that due to units out of place or is there a booked 800 turn down there now?
That pair has been together for weeks. I had them at the beginning of February and again the week before last.

It’s to release 387 units for Heathrow conversion.

There are a number of units on diesel only or with GU’s out at the moment. Hitachi seem to be struggling with their overnight servicing/repairs arising workload, despite the long maintenance windows.

Getting on a train yesterday made me think.

The sides of HSTs get splattered with toilet, um, stuff which gets on our hands when you open the door. But you don't smell the toilet stuff.

Smells are just very small particles of whatever it is you can smell. So when I got on a 800 yesterday and smelt warm poop, I'm getting particles of that up my nose. Not sure which is less healthy.

Yes - today (Fri 5 April) an 800/3 EDIT.. (304) and in electric mode - not diesel.

I noticed this too, especially in the heat of last summer. Some (not all?) of the 800's smelt of sewage, not just in the vestibule areas, but in the coach area as well. I caught an early morning train from South Wales to Bristol (it was the units first run) and the smell was quite overpowering, even my missus noticed it. Perhaps the tanks smell worse when empty? What is weird is its very noticeable on some 800/802's but not at all on others? Perhaps some sort of air freshener should be used? It can be very unpleasant on longer journeys.

Is there a final cut off date using HST`s on the GWR as there still seems a lot of them around on the West of England line? In fact there seems more HST`s now than there were about 3 or 4 months ago.
