Confirming that, oberservations at Bristol TM while waiting for a train to Exeter with some room; 1A22 HST. 1A23 800015/006, 1A24 800024/010 in that order.
Must of been swapped out, did note a subject to change was in order on my original post. Thanks for noting here too by the way, that diagram must've been swapped as it's definitely been IET operated before.

I wonder whether today may be one of the rare occasions when GWR HSS services actually have spare rolling stock?

To sum up the January SX diagrams, here goes. The diagram numbers are not the actual ones. All the SX passenger workings listed underneath, by reporting number.

Firstly - the 180 replacement diagrams , 2 from 02/01/18 and 2 from 15/01/18. Meant to be first two, last two in date order but it could all change if no agreement with LTV drivers for the Oxfords is reached or the north Cotswolds station validation gets further delayed.

1) 1P80, 1W14, 1P25, 1D26, 1P32, 1W33, 1P47.
2) 1W12, 1P22, 1W23, 1P33, 1D34, 1P41, 1D38, 1P46.
3) 1K05, 1D15, 1P19, 1D22, 1P28, 1W29, 1P42.
4) 1D13, 1P16, 1W19, 1P29, 1W31, 1P45.

Secondly - the longer distance diagrams, all 5 car and everything is reset from 02/01/18. Start or end locations shown for the portion working.

5) 1A03, 1B12, 1L51, 1B40, 1L90, 1D41, 1P50.
6) 1A03, 1B12, 1L51, 1B40, 1L90.
7) 1C02, 1A10, 1B27, 1L65, 1C22 (TAU).
8) 1C02, 1A10, 1B27, 1L65, 1C22 (BRI).
9) 1A09 (TAU), 1B25, 1L71, 1C25, 1A33, 1B94.
10) 1A09 (BRI), 1B25, 1L71, 1C25, 1A33, 1B94.
11) 1C01, 1L48, 1C15, 1A23, 1B69.
12) 1C01, 1L48, 1C15, 1A23, 1B69.
13) 1L42 (CMN), 1B31, 1L68, 1C24 (BRI).
14) 1L42 (SWA), 1B31, 1L68, 1C24 (TAU), 1A37 (TAU).
15) 1L08, 1C06, 1A14, 1B37, 1L74, 1C26 (BRI).
16) 1L08, 1C06, 1A14, 1B37, 1L74, 1C26 (WSM), 2M70, 1A37 (BRI).

Then on 12th February the following should start;

17) 1L38, 1C13, 1A21, 1B59, 1L96.
18) 1L38, 1C13, 1A21, 1B59, 1L96.
19) 1B05, 1L52, 1C17, 1A25, 1B79.
20) 1B05, 1L52, 1C17, 1A25, 1B79.

Hope this is useful and apologies in advance for any typos.

Okay, which ones are currently running to Taunton? And will any be running to Taunton on or after January 2?

And when will any be coming closer to Exeter?

Must of been swapped out, did note a subject to change was in order on my original post.
Even so they proved most useful and I managed to get a return journey from Paddington to Reading both ways on IET. Many thanks once again :)

I wonder how quickly the 802s will be introduced? The 800s have had a quite a speedy introduction.

They got stopped after a couple of weeks of service. Not too sure why.

Problems with the software after joining. So the workings were quickly altered and everything going to or coming from west of Bristol went as load 10 with five locked oou. Hitachi are working on a fix as it required for 2nd January.

The 802 sets should enter traffic in July, depending on how the staff training works out. Delivery currently stretches until January 2019. Once the 9 car 800 sets start to arrive at roughly the same time as the 802 5 cars, there should be a rapid changeover in summer/autumn on GWR from 8 coach HST sets to 9 and 10 car Hitachi trains. Then it will slow up for the last few sets.

Don't think they ever did split at Bristol TM in the first place tbh.

They didn't until a few weeks later after the Taunton diagrams started. The set not in use was locked out of use after Bristol when it was then put back into use on the return at Bristol. The new diagrams will see them run to/from Taunton as a five car and then doubling up/splitting at Bristol.

Sorry, didn’t make myself clear. Apologies. The problem was spotted before entry into service and Hitachi asked for a hold on join moves until they had sorted it.

I might be wrong but my sources tell me that there will be no short Paddington-Oxford workings for the time being, so the posted diagrams are definitely wrong in places.

Clarence Yard's original post did make clear there were various qualifications around the Oxford/Cotswold diagrams - station validation has now been done, but the local rail user group was told by GWR a few weeks back that initial diagrams from January 2 might be these two

1P80 0559 Reading – London Paddington
1W14 0652 London Paddington – Great Malvern
1P25 0954 Great Malvern – London Paddington
1D26 1250 London Paddington – Oxford
1P32 1501 Oxford – London Paddington
1W33 1622 London Paddington – Great Malvern
1P47 1942 Great Malvern – London Paddington

1K05 0609 ?Newbury? – London Paddington
1D15 0721 London Paddington – Oxford
1P19 0901 Oxford – London Paddington
1D22 1050 London Paddington – Oxford
1P28 1301 Oxford – London Paddington
1W29 1421 London Paddington – Worcester Foregate Street
1P42 1726 Worcester Foregate Street – London Paddington

rather than introduction of the two diagrams on January 2 and two more on January 15 in the order given above.

I'd say it's a safe bet that the diagram starting with the 0559 from Reading will be an 800, as three-car Turbos lacking selective door opening can't call at the two-car platforms at Combe and Finstock if working the 16.22.

It may be wait and see as to which of 1W12 etc or 1K05 etc is covered, but both of them do involve some short workings from Paddington to Oxford and back, assuming that an agreement with the drivers has been reached - I assume that involves dotting the i's and crossing the t's about driver-only operating procedures.

It was the DOO agreement (or lack of) that will determine what trains the single units will actually run. Even if there has to be a carve out of the Oxfords on 2nd January, hopefully it won’t be too long before they are back in.

Should be relatively the same as post #562, with some slight changes in timing due to the limited service into Pad. Whereabouts do you want to see one?

Thanks, just anywhere between Reading and Paddington. I’ll be mainly looking for HSTs but would be nice to get an 800 ride in too.

It's also possible to separate N Cots from Oxford services with a layover set at Paddington for 50 min turnarounds rather than 20 mins. So you may find those diagrams are cut up with Turbos / HSTs working the Oxfords and 800s on the longer workings. It is almost 100% certain that the Oxfords won't be 800s in January as even if a late agreement is reached, there has been no training of LTV crews on the new stock and HSS crews have no agreement for DOO operation of any kind. I understand that temporary diagram arrangements are in place to get GWR through to May timetable without any agreement but beyond that the alternative rolling stock runs out.

If that's the case and assuming two IETs and sufficient trained staff are available from Tuesday, then perhaps something like this

1W12 0548 London Paddington – Worcester Foregate Street
1P22 0825 Worcester Foregate Street – London Paddington
1W23 1122 London Paddington – Worcester Foregate Street
1P33 1355 Worcester Foregate Street – London Paddington

1W33 1622 London Paddington – Great Malvern
1P47 1942 Great Malvern – London Paddington

EDIT Friday am - just realised this won't work due to the extended journey time of the 13.55, with 15 minutes or so sat at Evesham and Oxford, so it passes the 16.22 just outside Paddington.Hopefully this and time sitting around going nowhere in other services will be addressed in the January 2019 timetable, to standardise journey times on the route.

1P80 0559 Reading – London Paddington - assuming this leg will be worked by an HSS link driver
then
1W14 0652 London Paddington – Great Malvern
1P25 0954 Great Malvern – London Paddington
1W29 1421 London Paddington – Worcester Foregate Street
1P42 1726 Worcester Foregate Street – London Paddington

Second one does involve a long layover at Paddington but on the four initial indicated diagrams there is no IET departure running past Oxford on to the Cotswold Line between its arrival from Worcestershire at 12.28 and the 14.21 departure.

Either way, the 16.22 has to be nailed on for an 800, wherever it comes from - unless GWR wishes to further antagonise passengers who were crammed into a two-car Turbo for the week before Christmas, though one might also say that when it comes to matching stock to demand, the 06.52 duty also needs an 800. The 180s could be full and standing on this service between Didcot and Oxford.

Hi,

In the new GWR timetables there are no H signs. Only a black square which in the key is said to mean:
Bike reservations are compulsory.
First Class accommodation, seat reservations, Wi-Fi and power points are available.

If there is one of these black squares does this assure an HST or IET?

I ask because in the timetable there is one of the London to Newbury trains marked down as one - could this possibly be an IET?

It assumes an HST or IET when one is available and there are staff to work it - we already know that there are likely to be some Turbos on Cotswold Line duties that have the black block above the column for the first couple of weeks of January, pending delivery of two more Class 800s - and it sounds like that could well be the case for some London-Oxford workings as well if LTV (London & Thames Valley) drivers have yet to be trained on IETs.

Someone may know whether any Berks & Hants series are meant to convert to IETs before May but until the reversing siding at Bedwyn is extended there won't be many.

Hi guys, my local station (Cheltenham) currently gets served by the Cheltenham to London Paddington service and I was just wondering if the IET’s will operate this service or if not, if they will come at all and on which service??? Thanks
