1L28 and 1L40, the 07:02 and 08:37 Worcester Shrub Hill to London Paddington (via Cheltenham) services were both showing as 9 coaches (Class 800/3) on passenger information systems. 1L40 is usually a HST (I do not recall another instance of it being an 800).

Both of those services are on booked 800/3 diagrams today - 800306 & 305 respectively.

For the people complaining about 5v10, this happened yesterday:
5W45 1458 formed 1B51 1545 PAD-SWA 10v5.
1L58 1507 formed 1W45 1520 PAD-MIM 9v5.
1A19 1514 formed 1G47 1615.
Reason for alteration is given as “Fully forming 1B51 due to special event in Wales” + “Late running 1A19”.

Yet again proving that yesterday’s HSS TSC [Train Service Controller] (which I believe is a member of RF, but I won’t name just in case) can and will do their job well, contrary to some people’s beliefs! :D

@FGW_DID thanks for the 802 diagrams. Managed to catch the trains I expected. It was only the early one that became a HST that i missed, but would have missed anyway as i was running late.

005/012 allocated to the IW951/966 turns.
Is there any information as to whether either one of those sets 005 or 012 was down on power or had an engine out?
It was definitely not performing as well as sets 015 and 009 later in the day.

Can't help you there I'm afraid.

012 had a GU shut down from SWI-BPW on 1B59, no other reason that could be unit related. Restarted at BPW.

Thanks for that. I was aboard the 14.00 BTM-PAD and it definitely was significantly slower accelerating in diesel mode on all three sections to Swindon compared to 009 and 015 on the 1830 BTM-PAD I can't believe the driver was only using 75 to 80% power.

Many services only 5 vice 10 car today, including the 0515 Bristol to Paddington via Newbury (1K71), 0648 Weston-super-Mare to Paddington (1A07) (in which SEVEN people on board complained on Twitter), 0712 Taunton to Paddington (1A09), 1445 Paddington to Swansea (1B46) as well as the infamous 0730 Cardiff to Portsmouth (1F05) which was just a single 158, and the 0629 Swansea to Paddington (1L24) cancelled throughout. Oh, and the Bath Christmas markets.

When will it stop?

I think the problem will shift soon exclusively to the Plymouth route as more 9 cars come on stream (after all the 9 car 802s are essentially for use on the Swansea bristol and Oxford routes) and it'll only be a problem of short forms on the west's true intercity route. But then people down here complain less so it's probably seen as the lesser of two evils. Whoever specified so many 5 car units should be held accountable.

Hi, do we know if this has happened yet? If so, which diagram?
Thanks

I don’t know I’m afraid, a cycling mishap on the way to nights Friday has me off work for a little while. There may be one or two others on here who can advise.
