Will these be used on the Swindon to Cheltenham Spa services? If so will they replace the 150 and 158 (rented from SWR)?

Started today except for trips that were covered by an HST which came ECS ex Worcester due to traincrew availability. The SWR will probably carry on as now

Seen there has been a STP move to Reading this evening. Are they sending some Turbos to run some Electrostars for a few days?

Move in each direction, just changing over units.

I don't think the final allocations have been made yet. The moves today were cancelled in the end

166209 came back from the Marsh but got pinched by Control to and put straight into traffic. The intention was for the driver to return 150121 back to SPM but this never happened. So 150121 & 166209 are at Reading.

Where are the 166s now, how many at Bristol / left at Reading. I thought 7 were to stay at Reading until 15th, then just 5?

What happened to the 4 x 2-car 165 moves west?

Confused at present - which are the 165/66s allocated to PM and have they replaced any 150s to Exeter yet?
Thank you
Brian

I don't think any Turbos have actually been transferred to PM yet as they change over from time to time. No 165s moved yet. Exeter doesn't come into the equation at this stage but 3 x 150/1s have moved to Northern and the rest will be going progressively as more Turbos become available.

No 165s gone to the Marsh yet. As for the 166s if it’s had the Ride Height Mod, it’s gone to the Marsh. All the non RHM sets are at Reading.

Edit to add numbers:

166202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 208, 210, 212, 214, 216 & 219 = SPM

166201, 207, 209, 211, 213, 215, 217, 218, 220 & 221 = RDG

166211 is currently away at Long Marston for Mods by Angel Trains.

Not all have switched depot allocation yet though. If i call up the RDG fleet on Intergrale, it still shows some of the sets that are currently working out of SPM.

The last I heard was all 21 166s with 10 2car 165s. Exactly IF and/or WHEN this is completed I don't know!

Have the gWr green units been refurbished internally? If so what are they like inside?

I am referring to the three carriage units that have replaced the 150's on the Cheltenham - Swindon services.

No not all of the GWR DMUs painted in the green GWR livery have been refurbished with a GWR interior. The three car which has begun to be used on the Swindon to Cheltenham probably won't have as only one off the 166 Turbos (166205) has been done.

Of the other DMUs, 150/153/158s which are green outside, will probably be green inside, but 143/153 probably won't.

The green interior is nice, especially now the seats on the DMUs are a different fabric to tat used on the HST which was done first.

I got on 166214 Saturday evening working a Cardiff to Taunton service. Whilst GWR green externally and looking smart, internally in FGW blue it looked tatty despite having a new disabled toilet.

I I sat in one of the declassified First Class sections and it smelt damp, the buttons on the seats to make them recline were broken and the carpet was filthy. I think once the 150 interior refresh is completed, a start needs to be made on these. Whilst the 166s are newer, have a semi operating Air Con system and offer an increase in capacity, the interior on a refreshed GWR 150/2 is much nicer.
