Following recent discussions about historic services, as time permits, I will try to post passenger train departure timetables from some closed passenger stations (mostly terminals.) The dates will vary, dependent on which timetables I can access. First in the series is Edinburgh Princes Street, since that is now being discussed in the infrastructure and stations forum.

Well I never knew Princess St Station existed till I saw your post!

Railforumers may like this site
It allows a split view, and overlays, of modern and old OS maps, and geology on one screen

So I used the old OS map on there to find the site of the station, which is clearly marked, then got the current satellite view alongside to see what was there now.
Hope useful

Buchanan Street station has always fascinated as it always seemed to have a comparatively low level of service throughout its history, mainly because it principally served points north from Glasgow. I don't think travel between the north of Scotland and Glasgow was ever as common as it was in the past few decades and so the demand for regular services over these routes were much lower. Station only had five platforms and from what I gather really didn't have the character of a city centre terminus.

Another one which I've wondered what would look like had it remained, although the entire site is cleared now and untraceable apart from the tunnel mouth next to the M8. Ironically enough capacity at remaining Glasgow stations is close to full, then the likes of Buchanan Street and St Enoch could have come in handy. During the 1960's many short sighted decisions were made due to the government policy that gave (and arguable still does give) precedence to the private car.

Speaking of which, St Enoch is another one that fascinated me, so if you have those departure lists and can post, I'd be interested.

St. Enoch under way, but may not have time to complete it today - it was much busier than Buchanan Street.

Definitely had a far greater paucity of service in 1962.

The postwar redevelopment plans for Glasgow foresaw - as well as the motorway network that the city now has - the redevelopment of the Buchanan Street station site into a new Glasgow North station, with fourteen platforms. The tunnel would be opened out, and a new link put in to the top of Cowlairs bank, with Queen Street station closed and turned into a bus station and car park.

Suburban electrification on a grand scale was proposed - virtually everything was planned for electrification in due course, except for a few goods-only lines. Maps of the proposals are here:

Re the Leeds Central local services, any thoughts why the 18 40 to Wakefield should be the only one to run to Kirkgate?
Postal reasons, connections there,overnight stabling?

These were accidentally omitted from the Leeds Central list:
05:20 Castleford via Stanley
07:10 Castleford via Stanley
11:17 (SO) Castleford via Stanley
12:10 Castleford via Stanley
12:59 (SO) Castleford via Stanley
13:50 Castleford via Stanley
14:45 Castleford via Stanley
16:20 Castleford via Stanley
17:20 Castleford via Stanley
17:47 (SX) Castleford via Stanley
18:20 Castleford via Stanley
22:15 Castleford via Stanley

Incidentally, in 1948 and in a few other years, Doncaster was shown in the timetables as Doncaster (Central), although as far as I know, it has always been the only passenger station in Doncaster.
The Hull & Barnsley Railway had built its own station in Doncaster (York Road), but it never opened for passengers, just remaining as a freight terminal.

Re the Leeds Central local services, any thoughts why the 18 40 to Wakefield should be the only one to run to Kirkgate?
Postal reasons, connections there,overnight stabling?

No idea; possibly connections or operational convenience. The line from Dewsbury Central & Ossett joined the main line north of Wakefield Westgate, so any trains for Kirkgate had to pass through Westgate. Westgate had some sidings that could be used for stabling, but the nearest loco depot (ex-LNER) would have been Ardsley. The ex-LMSR loco depot at Wakefield would not have any workings at that time, and sidings near Kirkgate would all have been ex-LMSR.

Very interesting to see Marylebone on there. Didn't realise that Manchester Central was used for Marylebone services as well.

Overnight services operated between Marylebone to Manchester Central. Also to and from London Road at one time which I think were linked to upgrade of WCML.

from Wiki
Birkenhead Woodside was the terminus for local services to Chester, Helsby, West Kirby, and destinations in North Wales via Ruabon.[4] Routes further afield included Great Western Railway (GWR) services to Chester General, Wrexham General, Shrewsbury, Wolverhampton Low Level, Birmingham Snow Hill, and London Paddington. There were also daily through trains to the Kent coast via Oxford, Reading and Redhill run jointly with the Southern Railway whose green liveried stock was to be seen at Woodside on alternate days, and summer services to Bournemouth. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birkenhead_Woodside_railway_station#Services

Does anyone have any old timetable information about Bath Green Park station? I think that besides the better-known services were branch line services.
BR period? This is summer 1957, SX only, as per the Xpress Publishing book (quicker to access than the WR and SR timetables), but there was little change from year to year until the Pines was withdrawn in ?1962.

To Bristol (TM by then)
6.20, 7.01, 7.23, 8.11, 9.53, 2.05*, 4.30+, 5.45, 6.18 (GW railcar), 7.03* (fast)

Pines Express to Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield etc
12.01, dated relief at 11.49

To Bournemouth/Templecombe (T)
6.55+, 8.15T, 9.55*, 1.10T, 3.20T, 4.21*, 4.37T, 7.05*, 10.25T
6.05 (SX) Binegar (Ivatt 262T and 2 LMS non corridors)

Pines southbound:
2.53 relief and 3.06.

Notes
* - through Bristol-Bournemouth and vv, semi-fast on S and D. The 2.05 off Bath ran to Gloucester instead for a year or two, .
+ - through stopper

The stoppers were the same on Summer Saturdays, except that the 3.20 Templecombe didn't run.

Summer Saturday expresses:
Northbound:
10.30 Sheffield
10.45 Liverpool
11.28 Bradford
11.50 Manchester and Liverpool
12.05 Manchester LR
12.35 Leeds
12.50 Cleethorpes*
1.05 Manchester Vic
2.18 Sheffield (in SX Bristol/Gloucester path)
5.28 Bristol
9.58 Bristol
(there is also an ECS from Bournemouth to Bath arriving at 10.58pm.)

Southbound
2.35 ex Sheffield
2.45 Derby
2.55 Bradford
3.45 Manchester LR
9.05 Bristol
10.20 Birmingham
12.00 Birmingham
12.24 Nottingham
2.12 Cleethorpes*
2.30 Sheffield
2.52 Bradford
3.30 Manchester
3.57 Liverpool
4.21 Manchester (runs in SX Bristol path)

Note: the Cleethorpes trains were an extension of a weekday Cleethorpes-Birmingham, and from 1960-62 were diverted to Exmouth and Sidmouth.
All the others were to Bournemouth.

Note the poor local services serving most of the intermediate stations between Nottingham Victoria & Sheffield Victoria.
North of Nottingham, many (but not all) of the express services ran via Chesterfield Central.
South of Nottingham, except for summer long distance services, any trains shown to Leicester, Rugby or Woodford Halse were all (or most) stations.
Some of the trains from Nottingham to Grantham originated from Derby Friargate, but there were sometimes longish waits at Nottingham (sometimes over 20 minutes.)
