Is Euston-Warrington the longest non stop run?

Seems to be a 105 minutes run. Is there anything special about Warrington for every fast Euston-Glasgow train to stop there? I'd love to do the journey but after checking March and April on the NR website, the cheapest outward Advance fare seems more than double the price of the Advance return

All London-Glasgow trains stop there beacuse no London-Chester/Manchester/Liverpool/Birmingham trains run through there. The same is true of Wigan, Preston, Lancaster & Carlisle. It is (I think) the longest non-stop run that isn't a sleeper train although FGW have a Reading-Exeter that is none stop that must be close.

Longest non stop on VT is actually Euston to Preston. Can't recall the time of the service to hand.

London - York is further and takes longer than London - Warrington and several services do that.

There is nothing special about Warrington, though I don't know why a town would need to be special to have 1 tph to London. There is nothing special about Doncaster and that has several tph to London.

London - Warrington isn't even the furthest on the WCML. There is a London - Preston non-stop.

1630 eus-glc.

There's also the 0540 off Edinburgh Waverley to Kings Cross, stopping only at Newcastle.

I haven't looked for the thread, but I asked the same question, and the answer was generally believed to be the flushing scotsman non-stop from Newcastle.

Oh dear :P I love my apple gadgets but autocorrect ges on my nerves! Particularly when on arrival at Finchley Road I tried to tell my girlfriend I was 'going underground girl!' but in my haste managed to tell her I was going 'under that girl'.

Are we doing miles or minutes here though?

If we included the sleeper, the sunday night down omits taunton, and is booked 3 hours reading-exeter.

Him going under the other girl is funnier than a scottish guy on the kazi

If we're only counting advertised stops the Lowland Caley from Watford to Carlisle may be longer. (There's usually an unadvertised stop at Preston and/or Crewe, but the doors aren't unlocked.)

It's the first station on the WCML that can't be served by another London service, simple as.

When I did the Lowland Sleeper it stopped at Lancaster, Preston, Wigan North Western and Warrington Bank Quay - but not Crewe...

There used to be a summer Saturdays FGW train from Paddington to Newquay that went non-stop from Reading to Lostwithiel, within the last 2-3 years, not sure if it still runs with that calling pattern.

I don't think it does, AFAIK no West of England services run non-stop through Reading any more, nor indeed does anything pass Exeter St Davids or Plymouth non-stop (and only one omits Newton Abbot!). Back in the final summer of VXC, there was one Newquay-Edinburgh via Leeds train on a Saturday, serving only Plymouth, Exeter St Davids and Bristol Temple Meads before Birmingham.

Without answering the question, isn't Brussels marginally further than Paris?

I think so, but none of them run non-stop - all serve Lille as a minimum. Roughly half of the Paris trains are non-stop.

All Brussels services stop at Lille at least, there are no nonstop runs between London and Brussels.

(Anyway I thought Paris was further than Brussels; it certainly takes longer.)

London-Paris non stop appears to be 2hrs16mins, London-Brussels is 2hrs01mins, but you're right that there are no non stop services, I was still thinking of the pre December 2011 timetable which had a daily non stop Brussels-London at 1hr54mins.

Have I got the idea that Brussels takes longer from the pre HSL1 (Belguim) journey time?

St Pancras to Paris Nord is roughly 65 miles longer than St Pancras to Bruxelles Midi. Can't remember the exact distances though, but there are non stop Paris services.

The London-Newquay trains stopping pattern is London, Reading, Exeter, Plymouth, Lostwithiel, Par and Newquay. The only set down stops in the high summer are Lostwithiel, Par and Newquay though. Many years ago a London-Penzance service on Summer Saturdays ran non stop from London to Plymouth and in the other direction one called Plymouth, Westbury, London.

The XC Newcastle-Newquay on a Summer Saturday was the best. Stopping pattern after Birmingham was Bristol Temple Meads, Plymouth and Newquay.

Yes that's obviously a major part in why it deserves an hourly service*, but the reason it gets a nonstop service to London is every station south of there can have its calls on different London services (Crewe on the Chesters and Manchesters, Stafford on the Liverpools, Rugby on the Birminghams, and so on).

*at least; it's likely that at the next WCML recast at the end of next year there might be another hourly London to Preston IC service with more calls along the Trent Valley and such; might get some extensions to Blackpool too post-electrification. Certainly all interested parties (Virgin, NR, the DfT) agree on this much.
