Please note: I've changed the layout slightly, as it allows me to keep it in an Excel spreadsheet so it is easier to update.

There are several ways. If you can follow these instructions, you can set one up for yourself.

Really technical bits

If you don't like the form above or the format of the output, you are free to write your own interface to the CORE engine. The engine can be used as follows:

Make a TCP connection to nyder.davros.org port 4472.
If you want to set any options, send a line containing a minus followed the options.
Send a line giving the origin station or group (in the same format as the form above).
Send a line giving the destination station or group.
Read the results from the connection.
CORE will close the connection at the end of the output.
All options are single letters:

a = list all routes, do not summarize after the first 20
h = output in HTML
l = do not merge steps in the resulting routes
L = allow cross-London interchange as part of "shortest route"
t = prefix each line of output with a character designating the type of output (this will assist machine parsing of the output)
w = allow walks
Warning: this interface may change without warning. This section will be updated whenever there is a change.

Although I'll probabally be updating the thread by hand initially, I have an automated web-based system in mind that - If I can develop in time and get working properly - Would allow people to update their mileages "on the fly" from any Internet connected device (Laptop, mobile, iPhone etc) during or immediateley after a journey, with the list in this thread being updated automatically by the webserver once or twice a week, bandwidth permitting!

That's cool...As it is, I've made the decision within the last 24 hours to drop and abandon all of my computing projects anyway as I spend far too long on those and nowhere near enough time outdoors like I ought to! hock:

If I do actually manage to get something like that done though, it'd only necessiatate an {IMG} tag being inserted into the first post, as the table would be rendered as an image and "inserted" into the topic that way, as it means there'd be no need to update the image URL once a week.

(Although another thing I could do is "squat" the second post, then write an engine to log-in under a secondary account that I would create for this purpose and edit the list as appropriate. 8))

A quite poor year at only 3,555 miles. However, 767.25 of this was behind class 37s (my lordz!), and 583 with 40145. Also 343 with Valenta engined HSTs, surely a soon-to-disappear pleasure. Most of the rest a series of sprinters, pacers and EMUs.

Put me down for 34,559 for the time being - not likely to go up much, have finished for the year now (apart from a very short journey this pm) but still have a few odd bits to tidy up; notably the new Liege to Aachen HSL.

Well I've smashed my 2008 mileage by about 2000 miles this year, thanks to lots of trips across the UK as well as travel around Switzerland in the summer.

Total of 6455 miles for 2009. Easily the greatest mileage in my life.

2010 could actually be even more epic, depending on how much time I will have for travelling. I'm planning Church Stretton - Chur (Switzerland) Return (+ further travel in Switzerland from Chur)... how many miles is that?

Finished on 21725 this year. This yea, I have spent 3w 1d 19h 32m on trains with an average speed of 39.6mph.

21725 equates to:

* 25.3 times the distance the Proclaimers would walk, just to be the man that falls down at your door

* 3.7 times around the Moon's equator
* 1.01 times around the Earth's equator
* 0.11 times of the distance from the Earth to Moon
