I really couldn't tell you why...... Thinking back to it im sure it was because i was having trouble with the mouse and the fact it was on a computer. Kicking myself really as know I could have done so much better but no point looking back!
The psychometric tests you mention above are done on paper (or they were when I did them) which in my opinion is alot easier. Other people may have different views but if you practice the material you get before the assessment centre for a few days you will be fine! Trust me.... If you got through this online test you shouldn't have any trouble on the day.
If I'm wrong then I'll expect a barrage of abuse from you!
Be sure to let me know how you progress

Lol I'm being led into a false sense of security.

I appreciate the words mate. I will keep you posted!

Hello all. I hope it goes well for every1 whos completed stage 3 and those that are going to do stage 4.

My question is what exactly does stage 3 entail? A description of both exercises would be bonus :D

Hi MickyB89,

How long did it take for you to find out you've passed Stage 2?

I just done the Stage 2 questionnaire....

--- old post above --- --- new post below ---

Received an email shortly after post above to complete Stage 3 in 7 days... It took just over '24 hrs' to get the Stage 3 confirmation for anyone who's wondering.

Cheers MickyB89.

I just had a response back and unfortunately I didn't pass the visual test. Can you answer me one question though? this is my first attempt at applying for a driver role, does this count as one of my 2 attempts? I'm not sure as in theory I haven't actually sat a drivers assessment because this stage of the test was something MTRCrossrail do in addition.

At least you've got to this stage. I have failed the very first online assessment. This is where I need some advice. I know that the main reason is that I currently don't live within the 40 minutes range but it was always on my mind if the ones that they passed this first step answered those questions like " would you like to work in an office?" With STRONGLY agree/disagree or at some of them they didn't used "STRONGLY", also how did you answer to this question ? Thank you

I can't remember the specifics, I just answered them with my gut instinct. I find sometimes if you overthink these things they end up biting you back in the bum. And for reference I do live within 40 minutes and passed the situation test. Maybe they just automatically discard applications if you live further? I don't know :|

I have completed all the assessments for train driver and I found stage 3 tests harder than any other tests. The multitasking test is quite difficult

Hi the M7 situational judgement test is basically this test attached, but different scenarios. You can take a test on this site to get yourself ready. http://sjt.foundationprogramme.nhs.uk/

The 2nd part visual test consists of watching a blue dot go around a "track" dot by dot and you have to click on the error button if it either changes colour (to purple) or it skips a dot on it's journey round.

The other part of this test consists of random shapes popping up in two columns, and you have to click yes or no if both columns matched. They could be in any random order in the columns. First starts with two per column then goes up to three.

Then the final part of this test consists of doing both of these tasks together! With the "train track" dot test being your primary task/main goal, but you must try to do the shapes column task as well at at same time.

Anyone has the phone interview before? I'm wondering whether it's more ' name a time where... ' sorry of questions or if it is more about why I want to be a driver. I guess in better off preparing for both regardless

I live more then 40 minutes away, i actually live a few hours away from Ilford depot and i have just got an email to complete the phase 2 questionnaire so unfortunately if you didnt make it past stage 1 it wouldnt have been because of the distance :| if it was actually stage 2 that you didnt get passed them im a little more worried

I have passed all stages so far for this role and have the telephone interview coming up, an interesting point has been raised on here. I previously sat the tests for FCC and passed all stages except the phsycometric interview at the end of the testing, would I be best served ringing up mate or old and discussing this application in relation to that? Who would I ring though with OPEC handling the recruitment?

All candidates are checked against the national database so you won't need to sit any tests you have already passed again.

It does not matter at this point how far you live away from the depot, what they are saying is, if you take the job you must live within xxxx number of minutes away. Same for the airlines, they require you to live 1 hour away for stand by days, at the time of interview it would not matter if you lived 10 hours away but when you take the job you must move to within the specified travel time away or have digs to stay in for the days you work......... Its not a bad paying job, the problem is living in the london area the wage does not go as far as living in the north. I had a change of heart with this job, I dont want to live in the South with the prices, I would already be taking a 15000 hit to my wage if I became a train driver so I am looking in the North with Northern who are recruiting. Good luck all

Not many jobs in this day and age where you can make over 40k within a year its a good opportunity to go from zero experience to that kind of money with no university or other training so you move!!!!! especially if you are currently making a low paying 20k - 25k a year ....

Just be yourself , dont answer immediately count to five as you think about what was asked, I have been through many interviews in aviation, I never missed a job due to an interview. They are just trying to see if you are a good fit. Research some online interview questions write down your honest response then get someone to look them over after. A classic is strengths and weaknesses, why you want to work for us, what do you know about us, a situation question.

Any time you head to a companies office to do tests or interviews you are being judged as soon as your car enters the car park, so be on your guard, dont swear or get frustrated, mingle, turn your phone OFF, peircings out, introduce yourself to others, dont be loud and brash and for heavens sake buy a new suit that fits look down and yes polish your shoes.

I may be telling many to suck eggs but many may be young here and you would be surprised at how many turn up for interviews in casual dress, messy hair, un shaven ect ect ect. I went for a Ryan air interview years ago and all the online message boards said dont wear a suit they want to you to be casual, there was 35 of us there and three of us in suits, the terms and conditions sucked so I went and worked for another major carrier but I was offered the job before I left the building

For the drivers they take on, how does it work, will they operate the trains that are currently operated by Greater Anglia, and then transfer to the class 345 once they come into service?

When I went through the process before after the telephone interview I was invited to a testing day at the company.
The testing day was split in half so people were let go after the first part. Once this day was complete another was scheduled to go to OPC in Watford where we sat the co-ordination test and concentration tests, then once those were passed it was the phsycometric interview at the centre. I never made it passed the interview but from here I know it was an interview with the driver managers at that company.

Hi Guys and Girls,

I'm new to the forum here and have seen some great advice being passed around. I thought I could help with my 2p worth and maybe pick some brains too.

MickyB89 I have the telephone interview (stage 4) on the 6th of March, I'm not worried about interviews as I'm usually pretty good but my last interview was over 6 years ago. So if it's ok with you could you post something up about the type of interview we should expect? Or has anyone else had and passed this telephone interview?

Cheers

Hi guys , how long after stage 3 did people get the yes or no ? Cheers.

I done my Stage 3 on the Saturday and I had an email by mid afternoon Monday! So the turn around was fast for me. I guess it'll depend on how many people have done the stage 3 at the time you did to how quickly you get your result. Since I started this journey I haven't waited more than 3 days for a response.

When did you do yours?

I found it fairly simple to be honest task 3 of the VSE was the most difficult of the lot. The practise tests could not prepare your for the last one. I got maybe 3 wrong on task 2 and maybe 7 wrong on task 3. just wished I'd used a mouse as my track pad freezed a few times.

How do u feel you did?
