Try drawing toy "Etch A Sketch". There are many apps available too. Some of them have the left control that moves the dot horizontally, and the right one moves it vertically. If you have a tablet or iPad you can cut out the shapes from the practise materials received, placed this 'stencil' on the top of the screen and try drawing line from start to finish using the app.

Link or name to a app?

Good Luck everyone!! I done all the assessments last year and got up to the interview stage with the Line Managers on 18th July last year. I have re-applied again as the six months have now passed, I had an acknowledgement of my application and was asked to do stage 2, which have done again. I'm just waiting to hear back, I sent an email to see whether I have to do all assessments again, I'm sure as I understood, that you don't need to if you successfully passed all assessments? I'm hoping it's good news! Good luck again!! :)

hello,
first time posting on the forum.
Ive just applied for the trainee Crossrail driver and received my email acceptance into the 2nd round today.
"Thank you for completing our application form for a Trainee Driver position at MTR Crossrail. You are now ready to progress onto the next stage. Please read the information below carefully before continuing.

MTR Crossrail work in partnership with The OPC (The Occupational Psychology Centre) who are specialists in assessing candidates in their ability to meet the criteria set by the Rail Standards and Safety Board (RSSB) and by MTR Crossrail to what makes a good train driver. This stage will involve you completing an online questionnaire. You will need to answer some questions about how you like to work, what you know about the driver role and MTR Crossrail and how you would manage different situations. You cannot stop this test once you have started so please make sure, before you click on the link below, you are in a quiet, comfortable setting with minimal disruption and a strong internet connection. There is no time limit on the test but it should take you around 30 minutes to complete."

what should I expect next? i've been reading through the forum for tips over the last few days. Thanks to everyone for posting! its a fantastic source of information and im looking forward to working my way through it all.

here hoping this isnt the last time i'll be asking you all for advice

:)

Great news, well done Drazky! You are probably celebrating tonight (I know I would ;)). How many casualties today? Mine is on Monday and I already feel the blood pressure rising hehe

You will be presented with a couple of scenarios and you will have to choose how would you behave/respond in a given situation. Think about H&S, procedures and customer service and it should be a fairly easy task. The real fun begins at the next stage hehe

If you click on the 'Good luck and once you are ready please click here' part of the email they sent it tells you all 7 processes. You then at the bottom of this page have to input the code that was sent with said email and click begin. It is not until you click this link that the test starts. You only have 5 days from receipt of said email to complete it. Good luck

soundandvision if you go back through the pages all your questions will be answered. Happy to help with anything you might need but make sure you have a look first. all the info you will need about all the MTR Crossrail stages have already been mentioned into quite a lot of detail as we all went past the stages.

Passed my second assessment today at about 13.30!
After the MMI the results were delivered within 10 minutes.
The computer tests were straightforward and the interview was conducted in pure English!
Not Suahily or Mandarin. :)
It was relaxed and you have to answer questions about your past experience.
I am quiet happy!

Well done Drazky. Really happy for you. Have fun celebrating tonight and once you get some down time feel free to give us one of your nice reviews of how the day went. Cannot wait for my day 1 on 19th of Feb!

in case anyone new to this is applying now, this is what happens when you get past the first stage (i.e applying online)
you'll be sent an email with the message i posted a few posts above)
You can click on it without being obliged to start a questionnaire and it has some useful info about what to expect next.
The names of the ensuing stages can easily be searched on the forum, there's loads of links. happy hunting

"Thank you for your interest in the Train Driver role with MTR Crossrail. This website will:

Provide you with more information about the selection process for the train driver role.
Give you the opportunity to complete an online questionnaire where you can show us how you match the role.
More about the selection process for Train Driver

A train driver has a very responsible job. It's important that we only select trainee drivers that will flourish in the role. So we need to make the right selection decision for MTR Crossrail and you. We don’t want to place you in a job that you either dislike or you find too difficult. To help us make the right decision for you and us we have put together a comprehensive selection process that we would like you to take part in.

There are seven key stages to the selection process

The stages are as follows:

Online questionnaire - This stage will involve you completing an online questionnaire as part of this website. You will need to answer some questions about how you like to work, what you know about the driver role and how you would manage different situations. If you are successful through the online questionnaire you will then be invited to complete the online testing.

Online testing - For this stage we will email you a web link to complete two tests online. The Visual Search Exercise (VSE) will take you around 60 minutes and the Situational Judgement Test (SJT) will take a further 60 minutes. Both tests will be scored and if you meet the required standard then you will be invited to attend the stage 1 testing.

Stage 1 testing: Paper and pencil tests - This stage will be held at the MTR Crossrail offices near Liverpool Street, London and you will be asked to complete a range of psychometric tests that will assess your skills and abilities that are required for the role of train driving with MTR Crossrail. These will be the Group Bourdon and Tea-Occ which assesses attention, the TRP1 and TRP2 test which is a trainability test, and the DFFT which looks at fault finding. During the assessment we will then score up your tests and if you meet the standard that we are looking for you will then be invited to attend the stage 2 testing.

Stage 2 testing: Computer based tests and MMI interview - This stage will be held at the MTR Crossrail offices again near Liverpool Street Station, London. At the centre you will be asked to complete a number of computer based tests - WAFV vigilance exercise, ATAVT perception test, 2-Hand co-ordination test, The RSSB Situational Judgement Test (SJT), Mini-M7 Test, MMI interview. Again these will be scored by our assessors throughout the day and if you meet the MTR Crossrail standard then we will invite you to attend the manager interview.

Manager Interview - You will be asked to come along to our offices again near Liverpool Street, London for you to have an interview with a line manager. This is your opportunity to tell us more about you and why you’re suitable for the role. If you are successful through the line manager interview then we will be delighted to offer you a trainee train driver role. This is subject to a satisfactory medical, reference check and DBS check.

Medical - You will be asked to attend a medical with our occupational health team where a comprehensive check will be undertaken to assess your fitness to perform the train driver role. A drugs and alcohol test will also be undertaken.

Reference and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Checks - We will ask you to provide references that will be verified. We will also ask you to complete a DBS form that will then be checked with the relevant statutory authorities.

The selection process could take up to 9 months

As you can see the selection process is very comprehensive with lots of different stages. So it could take us up to 9 months to take you through these stages. In addition we're expecting many people to apply for the role so it will take us some time to work through all the applications, so please be patient with us. We want to make sure that we make the right decision for you and for us and that may take some time. In addition if you are successful then you may have to wait a few months until we have a training course ready for you. Again please be patient with us."

So we all passed our 2nd assessment today :). I gotta admit, it was challenging and stressful, but a bit less tense than the 1st day. I'm not used to structured interviews so found it a bit awkward. Had a feeling they asked the same questions numerous times, but that's probably to prompt me for the right answer hehe. Good luck to everyone else having their assessment in the coming days/weeks.

Stage 2 of MTR Crossrail Trainee Train Driver.

How can this be right, can anyone advice me on this one. I did a lot of research on this and carefully read the questions and answer. I think this is bull s**t.

Thank you for completing the MTR Crossrail online questionnaire for the role of Trainee Train Driver. We’ve reviewed your scores and unfortunately you were not able to meet the standard we were looking for on this occasion, and so we will not be able to take your application forward at this time. The selection process is designed to help us make the best decision for MTR Crossrail and you. Your results suggest that working as a train driver for MTR Crossrail may not be the best choice for you at this time. In addition we’ve had a lot of applicants complete the online questionnaire so you will have experienced some very strong competition. Unfortunately we are not able to provide you with feedback on why you have been unsuccessful on the questionnaire.

I call bullcrap as well. I answered it flawlessly emphasising safety first and fotemost and got a rejection. Got another recent attempt, tried something a little different and same result. I can accept not progressing my application, fair enough, but it isn't on the basis of the questionnaire. It can't be, I simply refuse to accept that. My location I can understand, but anything else I'm not accepting.

Oh well, I'm not bitter, there's plenty of opportunities to be had on the railways, I'll keep trying.
