This is a serious thing. Does anyone have any updates on it...?All of the internal bar coupler housings will be widened by then, then...?

for the units entering service in safe form, with widened internal bar coupler housings...?July is still the expected date. Nothing has changed.
If they're running, they must be fixed. They only needed a bigger bracket apparently.for the units entering service in safe form, with widened internal bar coupler housings...?
thanks for the infoIf they're running, they must be fixed. They only needed a bigger bracket apparently.
My apologies for breach of netiquette ...
... but, in real life, who ever does a wind-up with a smile on their face ? It would defeat the object.
They have a A4 paper notice in a plastic sleve stuck to rear wall in the cab which states this unit has modified couplings DO NOT REMOVE THIS NOTICEIf they're running, they must be fixed. They only needed a bigger bracket apparently.

Thanks for the contribution as your first post on the forum! Yes they are undertaking driver training between Wakefield and Doncaster. The first drivers from Doncaster are already passed out (since Tuesday), so entry to service soon seems likely.Class 331 passing through Wakefield Westgate this afternoon, always seems to be up and down through here, mostly sat in the sidings at 8am.
Any gen on when and what will be doing the hauling?331108 and 331110 going to getting loco hauled to Skipton for crew training
Thanks!Id imagine that same as what delivered them to Doncaster 47/57 TnT

The intro onto Doncaster services should cascade 321/2s onto Airedale turns and see the end of DMU fill-ins. Get a Pacer out of Forster Square while you can!I understand that Northern are working towards 1st July to introduce the class 331s into passenger service between Leeds - Doncaster. The usual caveats apply.
Also, September 2019 has been suggested as a date being aimed for, but I have heard two different suggestions (from usually fairly reliable sources) for what might be introduced:
1) 331s on NW triangle routes, and/or
2) 195s on Calder Valley routes

To be honest I think September will be too late to start phasing out the Pacers and 153's and to send the 323s for a start sending the 323s for a refurbisment / PRM mods and they cannot be withdrawn or sent for refurbishment (depending on what class of train we're talking about) until the 195s and 331s come into service.I'm still hoping Northern can fulfil some of their remaining TSR requirements by December so presumably they will need to have the 195s and 331s in service by then
Multi test...?An 11 car mash up has just been on Lime St! Currently heading towards St Helens Central. No idea what it’s doing but all 3 pans up.
Yes, they will also assist the class 333's on the Airedale and Wharfdale services. But whether the 333s run on doncaster services too remains a mysteryWill the 331 class be a permanent fixture on the West Riding services between Donny and Leeds?
My understanding is that 4-car 331s will run n the Doncaster line until Airedale services can be 6-car. At this time the 4-car 331s get swapped for 3-cars, and 333s take over on the Doncaster line. Will the 331 class be a permenant fixture on the West Riding services between Donny and Leeds?

But that is at least a couple of years away.
It was reported on this thread on 7th June that 2 331 where to go to Skipton. Anyone know if this happened and are 331s actually cleared for the Aire valley lines? As I understand it Skipton crews will also be trained on them, so depending on how many 4 car 331 Neville Hill gets, they are likely to make appearances on the Aire / Wharfe lines too. This will allow the withdrawal of the some of the increasingly unreliable 321/322s.
