Anyone have any news as to whether both full diagrams will become 331 operated this week?

And what diagrams if any are likely to be 331s this weekend?

Does anyone know what the route breakdown (or generally) will be for the 331s once they will be in use?

There will be 43 units in total. About 10 in Yorkshire? Then the 33 units will be for the North West? I'm scratching my head. It seems Northern have loads on order but then given electrification was curtailed after ordering the 331s the 319/321/322s could be going quicker than even I thought.

Believe the other is on the 0651 Don-Lds and 1757 Lds-Don as I expected it might be, anyone confirm? Diagram one (above) should go back to Doncaster on the end so unless they've stuck that one something else (RTT doesn't suggest so) then I think that precludes it from 331 operation for now given it's tied into other diagrams

17:57 was definitely a 331 today (Wednesday). Not sure about the morning service.

The morning service was disrupted by signal failure around Bentley/ Adwick. I went out for the 12.29 Bentley to Leeds, which should have been a 331, but it was cancelled.
I believe services were doing a shuttle between Wakefield & Leeds till the problem was sorted around 13.00.

Not sure - the diagrams I saw showed the 2 Leeds-Doncaster diagrams (NL859/NL860) as being effective from May which obviously wasn't the case!

All twelve 331/1s (4-car units) are said to be being based at Neville Hill for use between Leeds - Bradford/Ilkley/Skipton. When platform lengthening works on the electrified routes in and around Leeds are completed (perhaps by 2021!) these should be getting replaced by some if the 3-car 331s.

Going to try and capture one tomorrow evening as I’m in Wakefield. Are the class 331’s covering both diagrams 1 & 2 or is it just one of them plus the peak extra?
If so anyone know which diagram is 331 tomorrow?

I can only advise that today (Thursday) the even hours departure from Leeds was a 32x and the odd hours a 331 (106 today)

The peak extra was also a 331 again this morning.

'Diagram 2' doesn't become 331 until the end of the month. Diagram 1 and 3 (0654 DON-LDS & 1757 LDS-DON) are the current runners. 331110 should be on Diagram 1 tomorrow with 331106 on Diagram 3.

Not sure that’s correct?
Diagram 2 is definitely 331. I caught 331106 on the 14.29 from Bentley (14.26 from DON). This was running 8 Late due to a train fault (doors I think).
I had also seen the same unit at Bentley on the 10.29 to Leeds earlier in the day. On the way to Leeds, a 321 passed us at Fitzwilliam heading for Donny. This would have been the 2B91 14.21 departure ex Leeds, which is on Diagram 1.

Are there any 331 services on a Sunday? I'll be in Leeds this afternoon on a Northern £10 Newspaper Ranger and fancy a trip to Doncaster. Cheers for any help.

It’s 321901 on the 0821 from Leeds and 322483 on the 0825 from Doncaster this morning.

Cheers. I'll see what's about when I get there.
I know it’s a bit late for today, but might give some clues as to next weekend workings, odd and even hour arrivals into Doncaster this afternoon were all 321/322 operated.
331102/105/106/110 were all stabled in Doncaster West yard.

The 'peak extra' was a 331 again this morning, btw. I wonder if there will be a set swap-over this afternoon?

Given that the platform lengthening hasn't taken place on the Aire and Wharfe lines, so that rather than 2x3 car 331s it's going to be 1x4 car 331s for the foreseeable, I wonder if anyone who has ridden it could speculate about whether a crush-loaded 331 is better than a crush-loaded 333?

As, I understand it, they aren't high density but instead more regional seating, I'm a little intrigued as to whether (because more folk will be standing than ever) they'll actually be viewed as much of an upgrade over the existing 333s without the extra capacity promised originally?

It might seem less crammed in as the 333 doesn't have a lot of standing space aside from the door areas. I thought the plan for Aire and Wharfe was to run 6 car using SDO?

That was the plan, however the platform lengthening at Leeds required for this to happen has not been done so it will be 4 car trains for the foreseeable future.

As Northern stated that they would introduce new trains on a monthly basis, is there any news on the August dates, and what diagrams these will be?

Latest whispering I’ve heard is September introduction on the Leeds North West Triangle (Leeds/Skipton/Ilkley/Bradford) October for the 195s Leeds to Chester and Blackpool Nth and December on Leeds to Nottingham when they start running the connect route via Wakefield Westgate NOT Via Barnsley.
Obviously covers 195 Work too
