It had just been explained.Yes, now just down to 002 and 006 to enter service
Also - often one (or two) of the earliest in a fleet does a lot more testing to discover any general design weaknesses. Sometimes sent abroad to a test track or climate testing installation. Often without proper interiors so can quite often be a long way down order by the time it enters service. It was one of the units that was used for test purposes.
The unit would then require being returned to ‘as new status’ ready for it to be handed over to Avanti.
Maybe more to it than that. But that’s the simple reason.
None of the 805 or 807 went abroad or for climate testing.+

It is usually the first one or two in any type that get way-laid for a lot of testing. Type testing is a phrase that seems to be used.None of the 805 or 807 went abroad or for climate testing.
805001 had no interior fitted when testing, I think (happy to be corrected) that 002 upwards were all fully fitted out when left factory.
Just leaves 807002, 807009 and 807010 for all the remaining Everos to delivered.Provisionally 805002 is scheduled to move from Hitachi Merchant Park to Wembley on 26th March.
This will then officially complete delivery of the 13 x 5 car bimode units for Avanti.
807002? This is in service alreadyJust leaves 807002, 807009 and 807010 for all the remaining Everos to delivered.
This will only leave 807009 and 807010 as the remaining 2 units left to be delivered for Avanti.Just leaves 807002, 807009 and 807010 for all the remaining Everos to delivered.
What about 807009 and 807010?Provisionally 805002 is scheduled to move from Hitachi Merchant Park to Wembley on 26th March.

I don’t know.What about 807009 and 807010?
The 807s are not bimode only electric, the OP was talking about the 805sWhat about 807009 and 807010?
Yes, I’m aware that the 805s are bi-mode and the 807s are fully electric. The 807s are not bimode only electric, the OP was talking about the 805s![]()
My apologies. Got confused with 805002 there for a moment.807002? This is in service already
There was a speed restriction on the set in AC mode due to pantograph issue on the leading vehicle of 805010. There was no such restriction in diesel mode.... thus I believe just 4 minutes was lost & the driver got to refresh mainline operations in diesel mode.On 1500 Euston to Holyhead. 805010 and 805012. Arrived in to Euston on electric but just before departure diesels were started and we're now running down the electrified WCML on diesel power, not lost too much time as yet.
They should be able to make 110mph alright, the gensets produce the same 'restricted' power in diesel mode as LNER's Azumas, about ~750bhp.Can the 805s still get high speeds on diesel mode does anyone know? I've only been on the 800-802s currently.

I believe they just have a sticker in the cab that reads 'No TASS fitted, 110mph' or something similar. Are they hard wired for 110 mph max ?
As evident by the 10 car run from EUS.... yes. Even with one gen set out on one of the units. Takes a while to get going, but they do get there. Can the 805s still get high speeds on diesel mode does anyone know? I've only been on the 800-802s currently.
No. The TMS is hard wired for 125 mph max. Its up to the driver to set the TMS speed limiter to the required lower value as appropriate. Are they hard wired for 110 mph max ?
Thanks for the explanation. Why couldn't the other pantograph be used? There was a speed restriction on the set in AC mode due to pantograph issue on the leading vehicle of 805010. If the other pantograph was used that would then mean a speed restriction of I believe 100mph.Thanks for the explanation. Why couldn't the other pantograph be used?
Still no resolution to the never working seat reservations, which seems to be related to either the short turnrounds at Euston or joining sets at Chester
Correct. If the other pantograph was used that would then mean a speed restriction of I believe 100mph.
Ties in well with the oft-reported/recorded 117/118mph max of an Azuma on diesel.I think on diesel the 805 tops out somewhere around 116mph…
