Looks like both have set off, the 1037 (According to RTT) left first, before the 1036.

Interesting how little fanfare we've heard from Avanti, they've got more in service than the 701s and we've barely been told they exist.

It includes a map of where they will operate, grain of salt etc. but its showing London - Crewe via Birmingham and Wolverhampton, which is unexpected. It is also a bit weird with which stops it displays, with Coventry not being shown on the map.

1D83 seems to have extended dwell times at stations. Maybe this is because it’s new. With 12-car 745s we’ve got it down to around 45secs if running late to recover time but then if there’s disabled passengers we don’t need to worry about ramps.

Interesting choice to use the Evero name for both the 805 and 807 fleet when quite often train names only usually apply to one class (and conversely some classes have different names per operator such as Nova 1 or Paragon with 802s by TPE and Hull respectively). That said, given that the Sprinter and Pacer names covered more than one class of train even with noticeably different exterior designs, no reason why Evero can't apply to both trains here when they look practically the same and will be indistinguishable to most passengers.

Today's first up 805 ran via Northampton, which is not on the map!
First Group staff (who worked on GWR and Lumo 80x introduction) on hand at Chester with film crew. Also some Hitachi staff.

The 1128 Chester-Euston (Voyager) has departed, possibly via Middlewich, which 805s couldn't do.

PS
The up line between Chester and Crewe has reopened, the 1128 Voyager was the first passenger train through.

Does anyone know what first class menu they're gonna use on the new trains? Will it be more the Pendolino menu or the Voyager menu?

I'm guessing it's a funny combination of the once-a-day Birmingham-Crewe-Holyhead (and return) service with the regular use on Birmingham-Euston stoppers.

Possibly but the line on the map stops at Crewe rather than Holyhead. There are London - Scotland via West Midlands services which go via Birmingham and Crewe but these will continue to be served by Pendolinos.

It's unclear but Avanti has confirmed they will have an onboard shop and I'd imagine the first-class galley will be like the other 80X units.
Hopefully if nationalisation occurs we can just go with IET across the entire 80X fleet nationwide in much the same way as a HST was a HST everywhere. I personally detest gimmicky names like Evero or Azuma.
Azuma is the only one that has somewhat worked. The WCML (and XC) would've likely received some IETs under IEP if the early 2010s government hadn't cut back the order.

Not much good if *Coventry to Birmingham New Street is blocked
I doubt any Avanti drivers would be trained from Nuneaton to Birmingham anyway, it's not electrified so could only be operated by the 805s so would be a minimal service.

Similar service to a voyager on 805s. 807s have a bigger galley which will offer the Pendolino offering.

Originally these were going to offer an ‘innovative new catering offer’ but it just now seems to have reverted to a ‘shop’ rather than buffet or cafe bar. Don't get me wrong I’m all for a buffet but doesn’t seem anything different.

I managed to catch the 11:15 today from Wolverhampton to Coventry, the train coped quite well with the crowds considering it was 5 carriages, and I found them to be more pleasant lighting-wise than the other IETs, and the PIS screens are very clear and make it much easier to figure out your coach compared with the voyagers. Ride quality seemed decent, and there was 36cm of legroom in a standard airline seat. Window alignment was fantastic too.

Overall, they seem like a good overall product, and I’m looking forward to them fully being in service!

via N’ton will just be due to a possession via Weedon until midday.

Some links do have route knowledge this way. Wolverhampton drivers do, not sure on other depots..

No wooden panelling makes a very nice change from the other clone 80x

Also interesting how the reading lights are included in the evero sets but not the refurbished 390s?

Also odd how the plugs are between the seats and not in the back of them like they were on the 390s?

I see these trains have brand new automated announcements. Tanya Rich is the voice on these trains.

Also does anyone know what method of Guard operation is being used on these? Guard Open Guard Close? Driver Open Guard Close? Or Ten Bell Despatch like on the Voyagers?

Not a bad looking product by any means. I do hope to try them out one day, but in my heart I honestly don't expect it to be better than the Pendolino. At the least the interiors match though, cause that way the level of comfort can be somewhat comparable (except maybe in First Class, Pendolinos easily win out there).

Looks excellent, nice to see the flip dots changed to LCDs. The only criticism is that the shop would be much better with that annoying pillar removed.

Ahh thank you, still Avanti would only have the 805s so any service this way would be very minimal.

I wonder if they are using 1 feed for the central plug socket and the other for the lighting. Or if the sockets were difficult to maintain on the 390s. Either way an interesting change.

Very interesting that they have a buffet counter facility, something that we were told "can't be done" for the GWR IETs due to safety/accessibility issues. Clearly that was nonsense as demonstrated by these and the LNER version.

To be fair it isn’t GWR themselves, but it’s the Great Western route (barring anything to do with differences between Hitacgi GWML and ECML depots and build quality, which is speculation at best). GWML IETs spend longer on diesel so of course have traction motors go quicker, and the supply issues are well documented on here.
The “traction motors“ are used the same way in diesel and electric modes. Your point is surely referring to the “generator units”.

Everos are similar to other 80x though in terms of the bland interior when compared against the 390s.

More colours on the panelling and grab poles would have been good to see instead of sterile white
