Oldham Roughyeds award for beating Hull KR in Challenge Cup is home tie against Super League leaders Warrington.

Sixth-round draw

Castleford v Salford

Oldham v Warrington

Dewsbury v Wigan

Batley v Catalans

Halifax v Widnes

St Helens v Hull FC

Huddersfield v Leeds

Wakefield v Toulouse

All matches will be played on 6-8th May

It be interesting to see where they play this match as I'm not sure if Stalybridge ground (where Oldham play there home matches) be allowed to stage match and with Oldham Athletic playing on Sunday I don't sure if they will allowed Roughyeds to play at Boundary park.

I also notice two games will be live on BBC so hopefully Oldham will be one of them as it mean more money to Roughyeds which be boost for them.

Oldham Roughyeds were back in League action yesterday and sadly lost to Whitehaven.

Kingstone Press Championship
Whitehaven 14-6 Oldham

Meanwhile Hull KR who lost to Oldham last weekend beat Castleford in Super League this afternoon.

First Utility Super League
Castleford Tigers 16-58 Hull KR

Salford Red Devils have stated that they will be lodging an appeal against the decision reached by the Super League on Monday to deduct six points and impose a fine of £5,000 on the team, which concerned matters in 2014/5 concerning a salary cap. The decision now leaves Salford Red Devils next to the bottom of the Super League.

If matters do go back as far as 2014, why on earth was the matter not dealt with by the Super League prior to the current season starting?

Challenge Cup Sixth Round
Oldham Roughyeds 10 - 70 Warrington Wolves

Oldham were outplayed against Super league leaders Warrington who ended up with 13 tires, Shame for Oldham Roughyeds but they probably happy to reach Sixth Round of competition and got chance to beat Super League teams in the progress.

Huddersfield Giants 36 - 22 Leeds Rhinos

Last season winners Leeds are out of Competition as Huddersfield reach last eight for first time since 2013.

First Utility Super League

Salford Red Devils 18...Widnes Vikings 12

A good second half fightback by Salford from a 4-12 half-time deficit and they outscored Widnes by three tries to two. This win, noting where the six points deduction had left Salford, takes them out of the bottom two league places who are astonishingly now occupied by Leeds Rhinos and Huddersfield Giants.

First Utility Super League

Salford Red Devils 38...Wakefield Wildcats 8

Once again, another very strong second half performance by Salford, as they fight back from the six point league points deduction, outscoring Wakefield by seven tries to two.

This win lifts them up another place in the league.

First Utility Super League

Salford Red Devils 20...Wigan Warriors 23

A closely-fought game to the end with both sides scoring four tries that Wigan led 11-10 at half time. Wigan showed more spirit than they had done in some of their recent matches.

It is some time ago that I made the posting above, but the independent Rugby Football League tribunal has finally been convened to discuss that matter and the outcome is that they have upheld the decision taken at the time to impose those strictures and have rejected the appeal lodged by the Salford Red Devils.

With the season virtually at its end. this means that instead of being in seventh place in a league of twelve teams, with 18 points, Salford Red Devils now find themselves in tenth place with only 12 points and yet another visit to the end of season play-offs now seems certain.

The sheer arrogance of Salford's owners in thinking that there could be an exception to their breaches of rules which all other teams observe is quite staggering. Bradford suffered deeply as a result of a similar sanction but did not kick up such a stink about it. Other sports could learn from the way that the Rugby League authorities have stood up to bullying from wealthy owners.

BIB - this was confirm on Thursday when they lost to Warrington by 40-14.

I doubt anyone predicted at start of season that Leeds and Huddersfield will finishes in bottom 4 and have to play in Qualifiers (last eight matches of season) to avoid relegations to Kingstone Press Championship. :o

Nice to see Oldham Roughyeds getting they season back on track after seven defeat in row they have now won last three matches with latest one been this afternoon as they beat Swinton Lions by 26-24 and move them up one place to eight in table now.

Well, the players from Salford Red Devils did not let their fans down in the final match of the season, away to Widnes Vikings. It was 12-12 at half-time and both sides scored tries in the second half, but Salford scored five to four in return from Widnes to win by 32-24.

This was the 10th Salford victory of the season and means they finish in 9th place out of 12 and as such, having to play in the play-offs, but had they not been deducted those six league points, they would have finished the season in 6th place.

Super 8s

Wigan Warriors 60....Wakefield Wildcats 12

A good start to the Super 8s by Wigan, who outscored Wakefield by 11 tries to 2, scoring 30 points in both halves of the game.

The Qualifiers

Salford Red Devils 34...Huddersfield Giants 12

The first match for both clubs in this competition and Saford ran in no less than six tries, three of which were scored by Mason Caton-Brown. Half time score was 20-0.

Fixed that for you!

Huddersfield (or Fartown as they'll always be known to me) improved on their defeat to Salford by beating Featherstone Rovers 62 - 16. Batley unfortunately were beaten comprehensively by London Broncos, the final score being 76 - 16.

Kingstone Press Championship

Bradford Bulls 82....Oldham Roughyeds 0

In a win as comprehensive as it looks, Bradford ran in no less than 15 tries, with Kris Welham scoring five of them.

Terrible results that for Oldham Roughyeds where they won two games before that heavy defeats but hopefully they can bounce back from that defeat against Sheffield on Monday and hopefully target top 4 finishes in Championship Shield.

The Qualifiers

Leeds Rhinos 30....Salford Red Devils 8

After the first four matches, Salford only have one win and two points, so their final matches against the teams from the lower league in The Qualifiers takes on rather dramatic visions of not playing in the top league next season.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Hull Kingston Rovers 18....Leigh Centurions 25

Leigh are using the Qualifiers to see how much better prepared they are this time than last year. Although 12-6 down at half time to a Super League side, they put together a very strong second half performance.

Leigh now have won all four games they have played and in the process, have beaten two of the four Super League sides, the other one being Salford Red Devils.

why dont RL just have a straight up and down relegation and promotion arrangement rather than this silliness with play offs and super 8's? BTW - how are a Canadian team going to play in League 1? Is that really feasible?

I should imagine the travel costs for league 1 clubs playing an away game in Canada would be quite an item,

i did a bit of interweb digging and it looks like the promoters of the Canadian club will pay travel costs and play blocks of games rather than home away home away etc.

I hope they have deep pockets!

Good luck trying to get Eorl Crabtree into a cramped economy class seat!

The Qualifiers

Salford Red Devils 70...Featherstone Rovers 16

Salford, in their easiest match so far, ran in 13 tries against Featherstone, in a match only watched by 1,759 spectators. They have only won two of their five matches and lie in fifth place.

Sunday 11th September - Oldham Roughyeds 20-18 Whitehaven

That win for Oldham Roughyeds (last Sunday) mean that Oldham staying in Kingstone Press Championship for over season. :D that is great achievement for Roughyeds given they got one of small budget in Championship division.

Leigh Centurions 42-24 Batley Bulldogs

Well done to Leigh who are promotion to Super League and become first team to earn promotion to Super League from Kingstone Press Championship since Qualifiers started two season ago.

Huddersfield Giants (or Fartown, in old money) have now secured one of the two wins they needed to guarantee their Super League status for next year. Final score was Huddersfield 22 Leeds 14.

The attendance at the game was 6,666. Hope that isn't an omen for future events at the JSS... ;)

The Qualifiers

Batley Bulldogs 8...Salford Red Devils 34 ( latest score with a few minutes still to pay)

This result means the "The Million Pound Game" (with the winners playing in the Super League next season) will be between Hull Kingston Rovers and Salford Red Devils.

The final score was in fact 14-42. Now on a train from Dewsbury full of Salford supporters, seemingly chuffed to be involved in a relegation play-off!

Thanks for giving the final score. As you say, not many "relegation play-off" matches lead to a chance to participate in a "million pound game"

The Million Pound Game

Hull Kingston Rovers 18...Salford Red Devils 19

The score was 10-10 at half-time then Hull K R went into an 18-10 lead with only two minutes to play but Salford fought back and outscored Hull K R by four tries to three,

George O'Brien kicked a drop goal for Salford in the "golden point" extra time to win the match for Salford which will ensure that they retain their Super League status for next season.
